Lord God of Truth Within

Chapter 26: Regaining Our Lost Birthright

In the deeper states of Yoga we are not conscious of having any form, but we are like the intelligences around us and are similar to the reflected light cast off from a pin’s head. The advanced seers tell us that our ultimate form will be globular.

When we become acquainted with the esoteric side of Chinese and Japanese art we discover that to these Orientals the devas took upon themselves the shapes of dragons. In the pictorial representations of a great Emperor Initiate, known as the Dragon Emperor, because he was fathered by a dragon, the artists always show him with his attendant dragon. Our great initiates, wise men and philosophers, were often fathered by one of these lords of elemental nature. Merlin is an example, and we have spoken about him in a former book.1

Those people who have a natural inheritance of both the human will and the will of nature are miracle workers. The children of such unions are called the “twice born,” and their mission is to bring spiritual realization to the world of the mind. They are the messengers of Stilbon of Arcadia, who is symbolized with a rod, bringing the light of the spirit into the mind world. In other words, the children of these unions are messengers who stimulate the mind to the realization of Truth.

When considering nature’s powers, we must remember that on this earth there are also lords of the mind from other planets, who respond to the mantric call of the student and bring him into an entirely new mental atmosphere. The sun, moon, planets, and stars which are about us, all have their part in our schooling and evolution, for they have their receiving stations in our human body.

We realize that we must tune our receiving set to receive a clear response from a broadcasting station, and we must likewise attune ourselves to receive nature’s instruction. We must also realize that the vowel sounds have their higher counterparts which, when sounded, attract the atoms of other planets into our atmosphere. When we call upon nature to bring atoms of intelligence and purity into our surroundings, we clarify our atmosphere and by this means we bring health and understanding to the minds we contact. This illustrates the power to be found in nature’s laboratory.

One of the great discoveries in Yoga is that man can become conscious of the different vibrations which flow through him from nature. He learns to distinguish between the vibrations of Mercury and those of Jupiter, just as he distinguishes between the sound of the vowels a and e. He becomes conscious of the law and love back of the Jupiterian vibration and discovers that Mercury clarifies his mind, giving him the power to commune deeply with things which are of worth to humanity. He sees the struggles and endeavors of mankind, and the avenues which are humanity’s means of escape to happiness, and he understands the difference between deep intelligence and keen and witty intellect. He analyzes the forces which would pull him back into the depths of his past, and the forces which would enlighten his mind towards God, where seemingly thought no longer exists, and he begins to know. We speak of these things, hoping to stimulate the seeker to aspire for love and beauty and, when we think of love, we think of Truth as well. It is difficult to speak with authority regarding these things, but it is a natural urge for every man to speak from his consciousness of Truth, and in nature’s consciousness it is becoming that we should speak with authority as we do.

Man is composed of atoms. These atoms are minute bodies of intelligence, possessing the dual characteristics of nature and man. They have a discretionary power which speaks the truth to dispel the illusion of the world. In time the student will align himself with the intelligence of these atoms, which he has assembled in his own self-created universe.

When preparing to contact any intelligence within or without his body, the Yogi realizes that he is like a wireless instrument combining both receiving and transmitting apparatus. In meditation, as he aspires inwardly for Truth, he sees what is going on within himself. He discovers that he has an engineer atom which can establish for him contact with any state of consciousness he wishes. He discovers also his instructor atoms, which are the depositories of knowledge of the experiences which he has passed through since his beginning on earth. In time, as he aspires for true union with the Lord God of Truth within, he finds that the engineer atom contacts him with these instructor atoms and he receives that information which is best for him to know. Sometimes he will be given a period of instruction, which may come from unexpected sources, and in surprising ways.

This is similar to a man having a book full of interesting information, such as Burton’s Anatomy of Melancholy, on a high shelf in his room. It has been there all his life, but he has never known its contents. Suddenly his eye and hand are guided to this volume, and thus our engineer atom has made contact with periods of instruction and opened the mind to new worlds and vistas of discovery.

Although the volume may awaken memories, the knowledge comes to us through the “natural man” returning us to our birthright, which we had sold for a “mess of pottage.” The reader must not be surprised to find the Yogi conversant with the past of this world; very often he will pause a moment, and suddenly place before you the life and activities of people of a bygone age. Perhaps, after having discussed ancient Egypt with him, you may suddenly feel as if you were there as an observer at that period. The Yogi has attained to the consciousness of nature, in which her plan—past, present, and future—is unrolled.

Sometimes we wonder why the great ones do not avert the terrible wars that create so much suffering and distress. Knowing the plan and purpose, they do their utmost to alleviate the pain and suffering which the dark forces would visit upon the world, conditions far worse than that through which it is passing now. Yet always they know that man will continue to suffer, until he does unto his neighbor as he would his neighbor should do unto him. Since a terrible war is one means of teaching this lesson on a large scale, to avert it would delay fulfillment of the plan. It is true that there are people who have perfected themselves in one life, so that they are not obliged to return to this world of ignorance, tumult, and despair. The end of all true Yoga is to bring God realization to humanity which is union of the lower self with the Lord God of Truth within.

This book is written to make man realize that he is not apart from his fellows. It should awaken him to the need for new institutions and laws, and stimulate youth to self-thought and a deep appreciation of the true, the beautiful, and the good. If it shall serve “To interest by the True, to move by the Beautiful, to persuade by the Good, and to illuminate by the Intelligence,” the blessings of the great discovery will be more quickly realized.

Nature awaits man’s discovery of his power to reclaim his own lost birthright, the gift of the spirit. This lost birthright, when man seeks union with his Innermost, brings a greatly expanded consciousness to his mind.

He then recognizes that there is one edict of nature which cannot be written about. It is passed down through the ages only by word of mouth. It is the “spoken word” of Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, Krishna, Bau, and others down through the long chain of avatars. It is the most precious thing that can be given to man, for it is the light which illuminates his torch.2 This key unlocks all hidden things and is the Truth which brings immortality to the soul. It administers justice to all things in the deep night of circumstance, it is the voice which proclaims the truth to the elders of our race. The book of the universe is known only to those who have served in the fulfillment of its purpose, and beyond that, it is the torch of Truth which unites the sovereign purpose of man with his creator—it is the Law.

The angels of nature open this book of the Law and read it to those worthy of its instruction, but beyond that we know not; we only know that everything is formed and shaped in the image of the Law.

Many have been given this commandment in the Western world, but their lips are sealed. To them we bow our heads in reverence, for to them has arrived the understanding of this sacred word—the word which Jesus and Buddha spoke. The great devas bow in reverence, as the word passes down through the different densities of matter, to ascend again and stand in the presence of its giver, the Lord of all Light, that which is above and that which is below—the Sanctuary of Peace, and the light of all becoming.

Since man really lives in seven degrees of consciousness, the little “I”, the man as we know him, only occupies a small portion of this universe. For instance, we use our conscious mind, but we are told that we also have a subconscious mind, that each little man has within him a world that he knows very little about.

Note on Symbols: We have spoken about Stilbon of Arcadia, one of the lords of the mind world. Nature’s instruction gives us the symbols of the vowel sounds of nature, by which we attract finer and purer elements into the density of our mind world. We are like people in a moat of ignorance, looking up at a being of splendor and brightness on the bank; if we call out to him and we are worthy, he will assist us in our desire to attain Truth. So serve the saints, who have remained behind to assist humanity up to their own level of consciousness. We must knock, in order to gain their attention, we must ask in order that we may receive instruction, but the key or password to their services is our aspiration to know God.
