Lord God of Truth Within

Chapter 27: Nature’s Hidden Chord

There are many things hidden in the mystery of nature which can be revealed only to those who have passed through their first phases of initiation into the mystery of her law.

In order to become conscious of them we must submit to nature’s jurisdiction; then, intermittently, we are given suggestions as to her beneficent work for humanity. I have been permitted to suggest some of the newer disclosures which nature has in store for us, but it is very difficult in such matters to explain that which is well understood by the initiates.

When we analyze the vibrations flowing through us from nature, we find a white stream of intelligence in operation, and its color informs us that it is a dominating force or power. It is similar to a clear stream pouring itself into a larger stream of muddy and befouled water. Although this white stream seemingly loses itself in the foulness and turbulence, yet its pristine color persists unchanged. Like a beautiful melody of music, clearly audible in the discord of a great city, it brings a blessing.

The student must realize that there is no difference, save in frequency, between the vibrations which are registered by man as sound, and those registered as color, or taste, or smell.

There is a vibration in nature which, when drawn upon by the student, clarifies his atmosphere and makes known to him the same impression and sensation as if a great soul were standing in his presence. Consciousness of this vibration will forge the link which will unify man and nature. In his ignorance man knows little of this invisible force or vibration, which nature bestows upon the sincere student, but it is the same “bindery note” which harmonizes his mind with the Lord God of Truth within.

This bindery note is one of the greatest forces that the mind can comprehend, and is the instrument which will attune man to his rightful place and position in nature’s consciousness. Man knows little of the true nature of what he calls electricity, yet he has harmonized it for his service. The devas call it “the third service,” and say that there are two vibratory forces ranking above it. The devas regard electricity as of little importance in comparison with the other powers of nature.

When the devas speak of the electricity controlled by man, they talk of its harshness and jagged appearance, for electricity is a purely natural force, unaccompanied by intelligence, and science seeks to dominate it by the control of its use. When the devas speak of the “white cord,” they talk of its softness and pliability and when man learns to contact this, it will become a great factor for healing.

Through the consciousness of nature’s bindery note when tapped, one is able to attain to virtue and understanding of the primary edicts of nature. It is a lost note, a lost word which, when known and perceived in the future, will bring reward to the honest man. “As above, so below!” The prophets of old spoke of the just and virtuous man, but the meaning of the higher counterpart of virtue can only be known through the instruction and teaching of this so-called new force in nature. It is of the nature of truth and of understanding.

This age is like a workman holding a tool waiting to be instructed in the laws regarding its use. The Egyptians had a knowledge of this force, as had the builders of the temple in Jerusalem, and the knowledge has often been used by those who have received instruction from the great dome-shaped elemental globe in nature’s consciousness. The presence of this force has been hinted at by the prophets of old, and it has been suggested as a force which holds all atomic life in its true place and position. Beyond this we can say very little, except to suggest that this force, when tapped, will awaken the mind to greater vistas of experience. Its collective ability will bring man’s nature into closer union with his parental stem of experience, and will also bring races collectively to a central focusing point.

The Egyptians symbolized this force over the gateways to their temples, in the wings which went to make up the symbol of the creative, distributive, destructive, and the protective forces of nature—the symbol known as the “winged globe.”

It is the protective force in humanity, the wings of Mother Nature protecting those who return to her source, and recalling those of her children who have strayed from her truth and intelligence. Man, in his past pilgrimage, has had the light enkindled in his heart; therefore these forces of the spirit in nature bring light to our mind world again, for it is the law that when a thing is conceived in the mind, the essence of the thing conceived thereafter links you with it, be it good or evil, light or dark, intelligence or ignorance.

Regarding the white stream, we only know that it is liberated essence from the source, somewhat akin to nature’s will. Its essence is healing, in that it is the comfort which a mother brings to her distressed child, and it exhorts us to seek God through nature. Yet it is a tangible essence which will lead us to the source of all things. Then will the great discovery be found within nature’s keeping, that the essence at its source is “The One.” Within this essence the man of nature within us bathes; it is his guide and protector, the mother of wisdom, titanic and forceful, soft and hard, gentle and strong. It is the pronouncement, the law of all time; it is beauty (love), strength and gentleness. “Ask and ye shall receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.”

The bindery note shakes up all the atoms of our body and assembles them about their parental stem of experience in order to bring them to its beneficent peace and understanding. It reorganizes that which has been disorganized; it gives, but it does not destroy, and to the sincere student in the deeper states of Yoga, it reveals its secret and its promise. The “word of power” which links the mind with its essences has been hidden from the student hitherto, but he must aspire through nature and her understanding to know the truth of this manifestation.

The power of hope will never falter when once we tap this essence. It is the link which will bring men and women out of their discords, so that they may acquaint themselves with the broader realm of experience, through which they have migrated from the beginning of time. It is symbolic of peace and the offspring of peace.

This power gives the saint his strength and enables him to answer the prayers of the multitude simultaneously. Great initiates have used it to multiply themselves, so that they might be seen in many places at the same time. We must remember that Mother Nature is the great healer and miracle worker. By this stream of energy, when he is conscious of it, man may conquer self and stand in the presence of his own Lord God of Truth within.

There is more significance in the initiate Paul’s admonition that “The Kingdom of Heaven is within you,” than most people realize, and when we seek alliance with this singular energy in nature, we can exercise dominion over our own “kingdom of heaven.”

A worthy sylph has told us that man is not set apart from nature. Within himself man has the creative, destructive, distributive, and protective powers of nature, to govern which he must seek union with the Lord God of Truth within.

We must learn to heed the man-of-nature within us, and to seek to serve the purpose of the God within. We observe that nature is the burial ground of our past civilizations, in which we find very few monuments erected. Yet in her etheric substance nature has recorded the history of all these past civilizations. As we advance deeper in our Yoga practice, nature opens the history of our past, and of the nations which existed before, and to this the historians of the future will go for facts. That which is imprinted with the human thought exists forever, awaiting man’s advancement in his evolution and perception.

When the student can compare the written memorials of man with those of nature’s library, he will learn how truth becomes obliterated and distorted by the desires of man.

What a revelation it would be if we could read the true histories of our great prophets, avatars, and saints! “The Wise Ones” tell us that a controlled imagination is one of the greatest gifts, for uncontrolled imagination brings disorder and disaster. It was through the control of the imagination of his hearers that Jesus gave out his pronouncements, both in his parables and in his teachings.

If a man’s liver is out of order he has a distorted imagination, for in the physical body the liver is the seat of the imagination. The upper third of the lungs has much to do with the mind body and, if that portion of the lungs is infected with tuberculosis, the psychology of the patient is most interesting. The majority are self-centered, indifferent to the feeling of others, and selfish. Disorganization of the digestive tract and constipation are often the cause of great depression. The average person sees no connection between the finer bodies and the physical man. But from the standpoint of the inward vision the physical man is gaseous in appearance, and there is some slight attachment of his finer bodies to his glands.

The time is not yet ripe to write of other things in which nature instructs us. Man is not yet worthy to receive it. When a student, I myself lost seven years of development through bestowing a power of nature on one whom I loved, who afterwards proved false to the keeping of this treasure: seven years of darkness and suffering! Thus nature’s karmic laws teach us wisdom.

Mother Nature is compassionate, and forgives her children for their ignorance, but to lose her presence, even for a period, causes great suffering and agony to the soul. Though the world may seem dark at the present time and destruction and famine abound, yet the Dayspring of Youth brings with it glorious help, and stimulates our persistence and patience to know. The advanced student learns the power of his self-created universe.

Although suffering may be rife in the world, yet when you can stand alone in the Presence, there you may be in the glorious sunshine of immortal youth that is within you and through the at-one-ment perception of truth you may be of assistance to your fellows. Through this hidden chord in nature man is warned of his own true condition in time and he can discern adverse conditions by measuring the light which is shining upon him, and thus “forewarned is forearmed.” This is one of nature’s beneficent gifts and if only we seek faithfully, we will gain conscious knowledge of our own place and position in our own time.
