"The authentic schools of mystery are found in the astral plane. This is why it is necessary for the disciple to learn how to “separate” the astral body from the physical body. It is necessary for the student to learn how to enter into those sanctuaries of inner instruction in order to receive direct instruction from the masters of the great White Lodge." —Practical Astrology by Samael Aun Weor
When our physical body is asleep, most people wander within the internal worlds with their consciousness also asleep... They dream. While in the internal worlds, the souls whose consciousness is asleep are unaware they are dreaming, and they occupy themselves in the same daily chores that they perform on Earth during the vigil state; they buy, sell, work in their office, in the shop, in the factory, in the fields, etc. To be on the path and awaken the consciousness, we must learn to preserve the lucidity of the consciousness at all times, even when the physical body is asleep.
To travel within the astral body is not dangerous: it is simply to be conscious while out of the physical body.
“True illuminates do not dream. Dreams are for those who are asleep. True illuminates live in the higher worlds, out of the physical body, in a state of intensified wakefulness without ever dreaming.” - Samael Aun Weor, Dream Yoga
To help you learn the practical details so you can experience astral projection for yourself, we have a topic page with suggested books, articles, and courses, and answers to frequent questions: Dreams and Astral Projection.
One of the most fundamental and simple techniques to experience astral projection is the mantra FARAON. This new video provides one hour of recitation of the mantra FARAON. Play this as an accompaniment to your practice, to help you focus and learn the mantra. And remember: any truly useful skill takes patience and persistence to learn.
"In Egypt, Master Jesus learned how to project himself in the astral body by vocalizing FARAON. This is how he consciously projected himself in his astral body at will. For this, Master Jesus laid down on his bed in exactly the same manner as the Chac Mool, the Aztec god of rain. Jesus rested his head on a pillow and got sleepy by vocalizing the mantra FARAON.
"When this mantra is vocalized is must be divided into three syllables. The first is “FA,” which is the note that resounds in all of nature. The second is the Egyptian “RA.” The third is the “ON,” which reminds us of the famous Sanskrit mantra OM from India.
"Thus, Master Jesus got sleepy by mentally vocalizing this mantra, and thus he consciously projected himself within his astral body at will. It is important to prolong the sound of each one of the letters of the mantra FARAON so the physical body falls asleep, and the soul , the awakened consciousness, detaches from it and submerges itself within the internal planes with cognizance, thus traveling within the astral body at will." - Samael Aun Weor, The Major Mysteries
"We advise you to vocalize mentally. The disciple must fall asleep singing this mantra with the imagination and willpower concentrated upon the pyramids of Egypt. It requires practice and much patience." - Samael Aun Weor, The Perfect Matrimony
