Heart-Seal Scripture of the Exalted Jade Sovereign (Gaoshang yuhuang xinyin jing)
An anonymous scripture from Chinese internal alchemy. To understand it, one needs to understand the three treasures:
- physical sexual matter (ching-ye 精)
- sexual energy (qi / chi 氣 / 炁)
- consciousness, divinity (ching-shen 神)
These three are mutually interdependent and interconnected.
As this scripture explains, spiritual awakening depends upon them.
In synthesis, the scripture is closely related to the prajnaparamita literature of Buddhism, which explain that ultimate reality (suchness, Shunyata, the Absolute) is one with form, matter: to perceive this reality, one must master meditation, and to do this, one must have the three treasures united within.

上药三品
The supreme medicine has three qualities神与炁精
Shen [consciousness / spirit], qi [energy] and jing [sexual matter]恍恍惚惚
Abstract, indistinct杳杳冥冥
Far, profound存无守有
Preserve 无 [wu] non-being, guard being顷刻而成
Accomplishing in an instant回风混合
Return on the wind, blend and unify百日功灵
One hundred days of spiritual practice默朝上帝
Silently worship the Supreme Sovereign一纪飞升
One discipline to ascension知者易悟
Those who know it easily awaken昧者难行
Those who ignore it hardly carry it out履践天光
Realisation of the light of heaven呼吸育清
The breath cultivates purity出玄入牝
Exit the mystery, enter the female若亡若存
As dead, as alive绵绵不绝
Continuously, uninterruptedly固蒂深根
Solid stem, deep roots人各有精
Each person has Jing [sexual matter]精合其神
Jing [preserved sexual matter] unifies with Shen [consciousness / spirit]神合其气
Shen [consciousness / spirit] unifies with Qi [sexual energy]气合其真
Qi [sexual energy] unifies with the reality of suchness [the Absolute, shunyata]不得其真
Without attaining the reality of suchness皆是强名
Everything is forced神能入石
Shen [consciousness / spirit] can enter stone神能飞形
Shen [consciousness / spirit] can physically fly入水不溺
Entering water, it does not drown入火不焚
Entering fire, it does not burn神依形生
Shen depends on form to live精依气盈
Jing depends on Qi to abound不凋不残
Neither withered nor injured松柏青青
Pine and juniper, evergreen三品一理
Three qualities, one principle妙不可听
Wonder that can not be heard其聚则有
As they gather [retained, transmuted], there is existence其散则零
As they disperse, there is nothingness [death]七窍相通
Seven orifices interconnected窍窍光明
Wild open, radiant light圣日圣月
Sacred sun, sacred moon [male-female]照耀金庭
Illuminate the golden court一得永得
Attain the one [unity], attain the eternal自然身轻
Naturally the body is light太和充溢
Great harmony overflowing骨化寒琼
The bones transform into cold jade得丹则灵
To obtain the elixir is to attain Spirit不得则倾
Not to obtain it results in decline丹在身中
The elixir is at the center of the body非白非青
Neither white nor green诵持万遍
Recite and maintain ten thousand times妙理自明
The wonderful principle becomes evidence高上玉皇心印妙经
