Jupiter

(from Latin Iupeter, from Proto-Indo-European *dyeu-peter- "god-father") The supreme deity of the ancient Romans. From *deiw-os "god" (Zeus) + peter "father" in the sense of "male head of a household." Compare Greek Zeu pater, vocative of Zeus pater "Father Zeus;" Sanskrit Dyauspita "heavenly father." Also called Jove.

The Roman name for the supreme God, called Ζευς Zeus by the Greeks.
