I joined with my spiritual husband 2 years ago, before I was introduced to Gnostic teachings. It has always been a profound and conscientiousness relationship, though markedly stricken with desire. Now I wish to progress our spiritual paths by practicing sexual magic, but he is not receptive and expresses distress and disappointment, and wants to leave our relationship. His lack of commitment leaves me feeling disheartened. I respect him and do not deride him with critical judgment. Perhaps it is egoic thinking to believe this path is truly good for him; if he is not receptive, must I let him follow his leanings without me? Doesn't this deny him salvation?

Is my resultant solitude the karma of choosing a spouse before having been rightly purified myself?

I am torn between my inner spiritual urgings and my perceived duty to my husband. Please help.

That all beings may experience real harmony and real happiness.

In the Gnostic Tradition, their are some students who have gone over 25-30+ years without ever having a partner, girlfriend, date, kiss, etc, of any kind waiting for thier future spouse.

In other cases, their are those who have to endure a marriage with a spouse who may not support their gnostic studies and the student is left to perform their spiritual work in a matrimony that's not quite perfect yet.

In both cases each student has to endure their karma, tests & ordeals, have lots of patience, understanding, willpower, and love.

When working with sexual alchemy we say that the stone must be chiseled. This means that you may just have some extra rough edges to smooth out. Some people have to chisel more than others. When someone puts in the extra effort in their chiseling, you can see the difference in the amount of detail and effort that goes into the work of art that their carving out of the stone.

Some people as they are looking to sculpt their work of art (marriage) they start with a piece of stone that might be a bit tougher to work with. It just means you need to put more effort and time into cultivating it.

Others they wait and wait and wait, looking for that perfect piece of stone to start with. Be patient and have the will not to give up. You'll find the right piece to use as the foundation of your masterpiece.

If you put in the same type of effort, patience, love, attention to detail, time, etc as an artist scuplting a masterpiece, you'll be able to turn a dud into a David, or a vixen into a Venus de Milo and sculpt a Perfect Matrimony, or at least the "hey not so bad, matrimony."

If your spouse does not want to practice sexual alchemy, that does not mean that you can't practice sexual alchemy with your husband. Some people are spiritual, but just to a different level of spirituality. If he's not ready to practice sexual alchemy and transmute with you, that doesn't mean that he might not be willing to learn gnostic meditation or astral projection. There may be the case where he developes his ability to leave his body, has an experience with an angel, and then comes to accept sexual alchemy. Their are many ways that your husband may still grow and he may eventually come around. It does happen. Prayer, meditation, sacrifice will help too.

While it's your choice of what to decide (arcanum 6), i'm sure you'll feel better with your decision after you've given your marriage and your gnostic practices everything you've got to make them work together. ;)
