I have decided to setup an altar here in my room (as I have no other place to set one up), the altar will be setup on a floating shelf on the wall, it will have a silk cloth over the top.

We are recommended to include items that symbolize the 4 elements, fire, water, air and earth. I have some questions related to each element:

Fire: Would a candle placed in a candle holder suit, and is it important to light the candle every day, reusing the same candle over and over?

Water: A vessel containing water in it, like an offering bowl, should we offer the water each day?

Air: I read that a high flying birds feather would be a good choice for this, unfortunately I cannot get a hold of any, would a peacock feather be sufficient?

Earth: For this element would pebbles in an offering bowl be alright? Does this element ever need to be replaced?

Now one of the most common offerings seems to be fresh flowers, would it be fine to choose flowers that can last days to a whole week in water, and just change them weekly rather than daily?

How should we place the Pentagram? With the inferior side facing out, superior facing the wall?

Finally are there any Mantras that we could use on each item to prepare them before placing on the altar?

Thanks.

It is efficient to change candles only when they burn too low to use anymore, and to use flowers until they lose freshness (depends on the type). Keep the water clean and fresh. The other elements are fine. Peacocks are perfect feathers, since in Tantra / Alchemy they represent the power to convert poison into medicine.

The pentagram should stand upright. You can frame it or hang it on the wall.

You can prepare your altar by prayer and recitation of the various conjurations and invocations. You can find them in the Prayer book and many books by Samael Aun Weor. Ultimately, the altar will be charged by your daily practice and the purity of the energy expressed in that space.
