From my understanding, when you have lustful thoughts, the semen changes from subtle to physical form. Below is something is found online regarding this, saying that if the semen manifests into physical form, that it will be expelled through a wet dream or through ejaculation.

Is it true that physical semen that is not in subtle state, is useless to the body and cannot be converted back into ojas??

Below is what I read:
----------
"An important fact unknown to most people is that Rethas (semen) gets into the 'ejaculatory mode' even through fantasy or sexual contemplation without ejaculation. Each and every time sexual thoughts are let to flower and develop the 'Ojas' that the Brahmachari has conserved reverses into Rethas (semen) in the ejaculatory mode and becomes sexual in nature. Once 'Ojas' reaches this state, it has to be thrown out. There is no other alternative. Rethas (semen) which is being produced by the body can be converted to 'Ojas' through conservation and transmutation but the 'Ojas' which is thus produced, if reversed back into Rethas (semen) through sexual fantasy cannot be re-converted to 'Ojas'. It is a unidirectional process and not bidirectional. Suppose a man spends a few minutes each day fantasizing on the opposite sex and but does not ejaculate or masturbate, a certain percentage of his 'Ojas' reverts back to Rethas. But he has not masturbated or ejaculated, so this reconverted Rethas stays as physical semen. After a few more days or weeks of continued sexual fantasy, more and more 'Ojas' reverts to the Rethas state, a little at each fantasy. Once this volume of degenerated 'Ojas' that has been reverted to the Rethas state reaches a certain volume, the body expels it through a wet dream or even an ejaculation in the wakeful state through some form of physical stimulation. "

Please clarify this for me.

The quote states:

"This loss of semen further to stimulation was necessary in the karmic cycle to make you realize the fact that more stringency and efforts are required from your side as regards to keeping the mind free from contemplating on sexual thoughts. It was necessary to take you a step closer in realizing the pain and distress that comes from sexuality and the bliss and life that comes through continence."

We disagree with this 100%. The loss of semen was produced by desire in the mind, not "to teach a lesson." The manner of thinking expressed here is a subtle way of making wet dreams "a spiritual lesson," and therefore, okay. They are not.

The quote also states:

"Once 'Ojas' reaches this state, it has to be thrown out. It is a unidirectional process and not bidirectional."

This is nonsense, and is part of that subtle manner of thinking that makes exceptions for spilling semen.

Moreover, if this statement were true, no one could become free of lust, since the mind — whether we are aware of it or not — is constantly generating sexual fantasy, in all levels of the mind. Most of what is in our mind we are unaware of, and it is constantly take advantage of our sexual energy. If we could not redeem the energy from the mind, we would truly be lost.

The fact is that the mind controls of the flow of energy.

You cannot separate the activities of the mind from the activities of the sexual energy. As your mind is conditioned, so is your sexual energy.

Furthermore, the energy that a single person transmutes is very limited in comparison with the energy transmuted by a couple who works in sexual cooperation. The chastity of a couple (avoiding orgasm and lust) is what truly creates OJAS.

The Tantric Gurus of Tibet and Hindustan are very strict. Before the male and female Yogi couple has the right to practice the Tantric Sadhana (a sexual position which is very special for the sexual connection among the Tantric practitioners), they first must become experts in the exercises of Laya-Kriya.

Frankly, we cannot and must not deny that the Kama Kalpa teaches many Tantric sadhanas; however, here we only cite the one in which the male is seated in Padmasana (in the Buddhic style, simply with his legs crossed in the oriental style) and practices the sexual union with his female Yogi.

Thus, the female Yogi initiate has to sit on top of the legs of her male Yogi, and skillfully crosses her legs in such a way that the trunk of her male Yogi is enveloped by them.

An interchange of caresses between the man and the woman is previously required in order to perform the sexual connection of the Lingam-Yoni during this Tantric sadhana, thus the woman finally absorbs the phallus.

This Tantric connubial practice demands an absolute quietude and mental silence in order to avoid the tenebrous intervention of the pluralized “I.”

Strong electromagnetic currents exuberantly flow in those instants of supreme voluptuousness; thus the couple enters into Ecstasy or Samadhi.

A Guru directs this esoteric work; he makes strong magnetic strokes on the coccyx of both man and woman with the purpose of awakening the electronic solar fire, the igneous serpent of our magical powers.

This is a system that transmutes the sexual energy into Ojas (Christic force). The couple must restrain the sexual impulse and avoid the ejaculation of the semen.

“The coitus interruptus,” the restrained sexual impulse, makes the sexual energy of the Third Logos to inwardly and upwardly return throughout the canals of Ida and Pingala.

Maithuna originates within the coccyx, close to the Triveni of the microcosmic human being, an extraordinary contact between the solar and lunar atoms of the seminal system.

[...]

The Sanskrit term Ojas means “transmuted sexual energy,” a type of Christic force.

The semen is transmuted by means of Maithuna into subtle vapors, and these in turn convert themselves into energies that bipolarize in order to rise through Ida and Pingala up to the brain.

To be converted into Ojas (Christic force) the semen must become “cerebrated.” In order to be charged with Ojas (Christic force), the brain must become “seminized.” - The Doomed Aryan Race

Whether single or married, those who aspire to chastity have to transform all of their sexual matter into purified matter. This force is not unidirectional: it is projected according to our WILLPOWER!

Thus, do not accept any theory that states your energy must be expelled, under any circumstances. Such theories are a breath away from becoming black tantra.

Thanks for the reply. To further clarify this question, can semen that has not been ejaculated, but has manifested into gross form, be transmuted back into ojas?

Think of it this way: when your heart is transformed by the emergence of anger within it, can you transform your heart back to a state of serenity?

Semen is no different: it is just a physical vessel for psychological values. It is transformed by our will.
