Hello, I am wondering about the proper measures to take in order to utilize certain acts elemental magic given in Occult Medicine and Practical Magic, particularly, concerning the Agave Americana plant. Samael states that this plant has powerful occult properties and gives an example of using it to clear a person's evil thoughts and fortify their pure thoughts. How does one carry this process out so that it does not fall into black magic, as I remembering reading that trying to control another person's thoughts is black. Could Samael do this because he was a master and could distinguish? For example, if I knew someone with an alcohol problem/depression, or something clearly hindering their path to righteousness, I could ask for aid from the plant, although is it not a slippery slope in distinguishing between right and wrong when I myself have the psychological ego alive and am not aware of this persons karma? I have not attempted acts of elemental magic such as these am wondering about these matters.

Thank you.

Performing deeds to aid others is the basis of the path. With each deed we perform, we have to be watchful of our three brains to ensure that we restrain the influence of the ego. Nevertheless, we must act.

Additionally, we should always be prayerful that whatever we do be managed by our Innermost. WIth magical works, one should always pray that the work we are asking for be done in accordance with the will of the divine and in accordance with the law of karma. This is in order to prevent us from acting from self-will.

And naturally, one should be meditating and working with dreams, in order to see the effects of the works, and listen for any replies to our prayers.
