In several books of Samael Aun Weor I have seen the practice of maithuna explained in just a few short verses, as in the following quote:

21. The refrained desire makes our sexual energies rise through Ida and Pingala; thus, finally, the lunar and solar atoms from Ida and Pingala join in the triveni to awaken Devi Kundalini.

22. During the amorous caresses, the electricity and universal fire of life are accumulated in our atmosphere.

23. If human beings ejaculate their semen, then, as electric batteries, they discharge themselves and totally fail in the Great Work of the Father.

24. The refrained desire causes the transmutation of the seminal liquor into Christic energy that raises through the nadis Ida and Pingala.

25. The Yogi/Yogini withdraws from their spouse before the spasm or orgasm to avoid the seminal ejaculation.

26. The seminal fire ascends through the nadi Shushumna throughout the length of the Brahmanadi.

I have a lot of questions about how to practice this. My intuition suggests that in order to practice correctly I will need to know much more than what is written in these short verses. I feel especially unsure about what to do internally. Below, I list some of the questions that perplex me. A complete answer to all of these questions might be too long for a forum post but if you can recommend a book or web page that explains the interior part of maithuna practice in more detail I would be grateful.

- Is it necessary to visualize something during the practice?
- What exercises or pujas should I do prior to beginning each sesson?
- Should mantra vocalization be practiced throughout the session, only at the beginning, or prior to the beginning?
- What should I do internally while vocalizing mantra?
- I feel energy moving and have the impression of being able to control its direction but I don't know how to move it up the spine or if that is appropriate. I have read that this requires "gentle heat and much attention". Aside from keeping the energy gently warm, should I direct it in a specific direction or location?
- I've read books from FPMT.org that indicated that sexual practice is quite complicated and should not be undertaken until after one has received initiation from a qualified tantric lama. I haven't seen similar advice in Master Samael's books. I guess that Master Samael's method is different because it was given in a different context to a different culture but sometimes I doubt that my current understanding is sufficient and wonder if I'm doing it incorrectly.

Thank you in advance.

Start by keeping it simple. There should be love, be mindful of the divine, and transmute the energy. At first the transmutation is more crude, and done simply by avoiding orgasm and stopping before too much heat is accumulated. With practice, transmutation becomes more skillful.

Asking for help from your Divine Mother and Holy Spirit, even a short prayer or supplication before practice, is very beneficial. Meditation prior to is also helpful, obviously. But we have to work at the level we are at, and for some people a long practice prior feels too mechanical and forced and it leads to inferior results.

Using mantras and visualization are also very beneficial, but you do not need to rush into those practices if you are not sure about them. Meditate on those practices to gain insight. Pray, and ask Samael Aun Weor (in meditation, prayer, and dream yoga) to help you understand the practices better.
