Dear instructors, does the inner being of an aspirant who has not yet entered the path but is still shall we say wasting his time put struggles or trials in the life of that person intentionally to give them the final motivation they need? In other words, can certain trials in our lives whether internal/psychological or even external be intentionally one's inner being or is all trial just of the ego? Also regarding self-observation, how does a beginner maintain the willpower to stay in self-observation? Is there a mantra? Also, when I try to meditate I realize just how weak my mind is and as soon as I try to meditate egos try to distract me, they try to bring my awareness to strange things that I can't explain and I can't control my mind at all. I have tried to meditate on something as I am falling asleep and I just end up asleep. What is the solution to this? Thank you.

We have to learn to distinguish between the general karma that each of one us has, and that which have to face and endure - the consequences of our actions in this life and past lives - and the initiatic ordeals placed before the aspirant who is attuned to the will of an Innermost that seeks mastery. Even a cursory glance will tell us that this humanity is beset by innumerable problems and unquantifiable suffering, regardless of whether their Innermost has even a speck of longing for mastery. That is karma.

Initiatic ordeals are of a different nature, and are placed before the aspirant in order to see what level they are really at, and to what degree is their seriousness in the path, and ultimately, what they have to overcome within themselves in order to progress in their ascent up the ladder.

As to your other questions, the answer is simple: Thelema!

Keep practicing, with faith, on behalf of your Innermost.
