I have been trying to work on my consciousness for quite some time now, but I keep losing my motivation to go on with the practices. I've tried various exercises - thought obvservation, present moment awareness, conscious moving and none of them worked on the long term. Usually, I can diligently do the exercise for a month, then I simply lose my interest in it. I don't know what the reason could be.
This indicates that you are not perceiving or receiving the benefits of those exercises. The remedy is to first carefully examine the teachings alongside your practice, to make sure you are accurate in your implementation. Second, carefully examine the consequences of the practices. It is essential to see the cause and effect relationship between practice and result. If there is no result, the practice is flawed. Once you perceive the benefits, continuing becomes easier, even joyful.
