Greetings,

I couple of weeks ago I was prescribed a new medication, and it impaired my judgement and psychology enough to masturbate. I later expected to have lost a lot of my spiritual development, yet I seem to by same old self without having lost anything.

What is exactly is lost upon orgasm?

The only negative consequence I can sense is the temptation to masturbate again since there are no apparent consequences.

Thank You

Patanjali states:
Yoga [union] is the stilling of the modifications of Consciousness.
- Yoga Sutras, 1:2

You said you did not lose any "spiritual development," but then two sentences later you described an increase in desire as a result of your action, which is a modification of the consciousness, and thus the opposite of true yoga, or union with the Divine.

So what do you mean when you use the term "spiritual development"?

"Spiritual development" was used in a generic sense: awakened consciousness, clean conscience, powers, relationship with Divinity, etc., not referring to Chesed. Much of this post is now moot because I am currently experiencing the vehement chest pain that now accompanies my lust, and more trouble is developing day by day.

So, while I am now experiencing the "apparent consequences of falling," I also see the masochistic cycle to "unite" with Divinity, thanks to your question.

It just took some time.
