Peace,

A friend of mine had been caring for my cat for the last 3 years, and the other day, the cat became very sick. In short, it has diabetes and needs consistent care. He is about 12 years old and has been diabetic for about 3 years.. Since I have returned to the area for a short time, I have been put in a the circumstance to pay for all of the cat's medical expenses.. While I don't mind doing that at this time, I am in no position to take care of the cat and neither are my family members... Due to this situation and watching my cat in his current state, my heart mourns for him because I feel helpless in this situation. I have been a quite saddened by the thought that he may have to be put to sleep and spiritually speaking, I can't seem to control my tears and emotions when I think about this possibility of having to put him down because there is no one to care for him. My question is where does one draw the line when it comes to life/death choices w/animals? It's a derision that no one wants to make. I don't know what to do and I know that no-one can tell me what to do... it' s just that I'm not at the level where I can be non-emotional. Does emotion = attachment? I prayed and asked God for guidance because I don't know what to do or how to deal w/the situation. I am trying to lift my spirit a bit because i know the cat feels my energy. Can you suggest some prayers, reading, mantras that might help me deal w/this situation. There's a lot of emotions i have kept inside of myself, and as a result, i had a nightmare of some sort last night... So I realize that i have to find some way to deal w/these emotions. I need more prayer and meditation for sure... I have tried to analyze what is happening in to me in my life and why, but I can' t seem to wrap my head around this one at all.

I welcome comments from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

Sometimes euthanasia for is the most compassionate course of action to take if an animal is suffering profusely without hope of remedy. While it is painful to put an animal to sleep, this might be the appropriate solution to alleviate our pet friend's pain.

We have to remember that animals too go through their process in life and death, and that the abandonment of their physical body is natural and inevitable. Therefore, we should not be attached. We should always do our best to keep our pet friends healthy, happy and at peace. Yet sometimes euthanasia is the best thing when there simply are no options left.

Always pray for the soul of the animal, and comprehend that your pet has to move on when the time comes. Helping the animal soul depart from a sick, decayed and decimated body can be a great service, whereby that soul may continue forward in its development.

Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.

Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.

I appreciate your response. If it is decided to put the cat to sleep; we don't know whether to cremate or bury the cat. I don't remember exactly what the difference is in terms of the animal's spirit/body to the earth. Can you address this?

I am learning a little more each day to appreciate life a little more and not to take it for granted. I know that I will not live in this physical body forever and each day I am becoming a little more aware of how asleep I really am and how nature moves in it's own time. Sometimes I think to myself that "God" is truly "The Patient, The Merciful" and he/she does things when it's time. " it's only a matter of time when we all have to "pay the piper". No need to worry about time, or tomorrow because we truly have no control over any of it, the process of life/death. When I was younger I used to think I had time to plan this and that and to make up for my mistakes and wrong-doings... I realize now, today that the time is "Now" at the present moment....... and that's all I have to make a change, to make a difference in my own life. I need forgiveness, and understanding so that I will know how to go about my life in a better way.

When I listen to the lecture about "Samsara and Nirvana" I feel that I have no hope for myself, because I am aware of how deep my attachments and my faults are. I'm often to tired and lazy to get up in the quiet of the night to meditate, but I will not give up... I pray and seek assistance from the Divine and the angels to help me overcome my shortcomings.

Cemeteries are truly disgusting places, whereby all sorts of larvae coagulate in order to poison the minds and bodies of living beings. Therefore it is better to cremate the dead, since the fire literally purifies. When the body is completely gone, there is less attachment and preoccupation for the dead, who can move on in their transmigratory process with greater ease.

Do not worry about feeling incapable to perform the great work. We often do not give ourselves enough credit for what we have accomplished in the past, for what we are presently doing, and for what we will do in the future. Defeatism originates from a lack of experience about our conscious capacities. When we become cognizant of those abilities we inherently do possess within the consciousness, then diligence develops within our interior and defeatism diminishes. It is a matter of work upon those psychological elements within our interior that do not want us to succeed. This is a gradual and patient process.

Therefore, do not lose hope, but be thou faithful unto (Divine Mother) death, and She will give you a crown of life (Revelation 2:10). :)

Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.

Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.
