Is the Hebrew word Nephesh נפש [animal] (soul) identical with these two terms; The elemental nature and the Buddha nature (Buddha-dhātu, Tathāgatagarbha)?

What is the Nephesh Chaiah נפש חיה (living soul)? My feeling is that Nephesh Chaiah is referring to the positive awakening of consciousness, what is interesting and further adds to that impression is the Kabbalistic addition of the letters חיה which takes us to the number 5, five relates to the pentagram, the microcosm, Adam.
