"If thou canst not make thine own self what thou desireth, how shalt thou be able to fashion another to thine own liking. We are ready to see others made perfect, and yet we do not amend our own shortcomings."
—Thomas à Kempis

Love does not depend on ambition. Love is a spontaneous, beautiful experience of the soul that does not result from one’s desire to find a spouse.
There are many Gnostic practitioners who have a spouse that does not follow these teachings or wish to practice sexual magic. However, due to the presence of genuine love in the relationship, they are still able to find a way to respect each other and cooperate sexually.
My point is that you should not be seeking a spouse with any expectations. You must open your heart and ask your inner Being to guide you. According to karma and our present actions, we will receive what we deserve, not necessarily what we expect or desire.
