With love and peace. Today it occured to me that, even though it may not be a central part of the teaching, Samael Aun Weor talked about the concept of twin souls. As far as I understand, it is the basis for our yearning for love, to find and be with our twin soul. In Perfect Matrimony it's stated that "Any marriage without the union of twin souls, is suffering". Nowadays the adultered version of this concept is known as "twin flames". What I wanted to know was this; do twin souls share one Innermost? As an example; did SAW and VM Lilantes both had one Innermost named the angel Samael? Or did she have another Innermost so their union became an union of two angels in higher realms?

This is actually a quote from The Zodiacal Course:

The first woman that man knew in Eden is his twin soul.

The twin souls keep meeting each other, life after life. Together they came out of Eden and together they must return to Eden. When karma separates them, they suffer the inexpressible. True happiness in marriage can only be possible between two twin souls.

When the marriage does not take place with the twin soul, it is a karmic marriage and one suffers the inexpressible.

This is one of the very few times he mentioned twin souls in this context.

They do not have the same Innermost.

The twin souls that do have the same Innermost are the more important twin souls, however, these are not two people in two different physical bodies. These are two parts of the same Being. The Human Soul in the fifth dimension that has its essence incarnated in a physical body, and the Divine Soul that has its gravity in the sixth dimension.

By far the majority of the time he talks about twin souls, it is in this way:

The Innermost has two twin souls: the Divine [Geburah] and the Human [Tiphereth]. The bodhisattva is the Human Soul [Tiphereth]. Thus, when a master (Chesed, the Innermost) wants to reincarnate, he sends his Human Soul (or bodhisattva) ahead to reincarnate. Then his Human Soul enters the maternal womb and is born like any ordinary child; nonetheless, we understand that such a child is a bodhisattva (Human Soul) of a master. If these bodhisattvas want to incarnate their Innermost (Divine Master) within themselves, then they have to prepare themselves in order to achieve it.

The Inner Master is a perfect amalgamation of the Innermost with the Divine Soul [Geburah]; these are already integrally fused within him. The Innermost is masculine, and his Divine Soul (the consciousness, Geburah) is feminine. The outcome of this mixture is a perfect, divine hermaphrodite. This perfect hermaphrodite-spirit is the internal master. This is the master who sends his Human Soul ahead to reincarnate and prepare. Thus, when the bodhisattva is prepared, the Inner Master enters into him. When this happens, we state that the master has been born.

“Nothing is easier than self-deceit. For what each man wishes, that he also believes.” —Demosthenes

"Do not worry; cultivate the habit of being happy." —Samael Aun Weor

Alexis,

It sounds like the modern, new age concept of "twin flames" is a bastardization, of, yet similar to, the twin souls concept that Master Samael speaks of in the Zodiacal Course.

Is that correct?

I always assumed the new age concept of twin flames was nonsense, like other new age theories such as picking our parents before birth, our souls "choosing" to become serial killers because it's in our "soul contract", etc.

From what I have heard, the concept of twin flames seems to romanticize hopeless relationships, as well as offer the ego a way to feel "spiritual".

Is there any similarity between the twin souls that Master Samael speaks of and the new age concept of twin flames?

If so, how did this happen? New age theory is not informed by gnosis.
