When is it apropriate to ask of the divine mother to decapitate the ego with her flamiing sword. Impale it with her flaming spear. Reduce it to cosmic dust? When is it recommended, can this be done at any contemplation or after every meditation on the ego?

You can pray all the time, even when facing temptation. But she can only eliminate what has been comprehended. That is, prayer is good, but without deep comprehension, she cannot eliminate anything.

Though it has not been fully comprehended, sometimes it would seem appropriate to ask for the decapiation of the ego, the impaling of it when one is struggling tenaciously. She can reduce that which has been comprehended even if it is on only an intellectual level. Just a perspective on my part.
