It was explained in the lecture "Fallen Angels" that we are "tohu ve bohu" which translates to "formless and void." It has also been explained that the first aspect of the Absolute is "Ain" which can be translated "emptiness." To me, being formless and void is the same thing as emptiness. Why then, am I working every day to reach the level of emptiness when I am already empty? It seems to me that I am not formless and void, that rather I am formed (poorly) and full (of sin).

Second, is this an intellectual question? Should I be meditating instead of using the forum to reach my conclusion? If so, why is this forum available?

In my mind as I am asking these questions, I can recognize a somewhat sarcastic tone. I truthfully don't believe that tone is directed at you. I think it is my frustrated intellect. So I apologize if a negative tone was conveyed through my writing.

I am having a hard time with my meditation practice. It seemed much easier in the beginning. I am trying very hard to have a "beginner's mind", but trying just increases the struggle. How does one achieve, without trying? It has been suggested to call upon one's guardian angel, but I don't know the name of my guardian angel. I'm not certain I even know what a guardian angle is.

I'm sorry for my lack of focus, only answer what you feel is necessary. As always, I am very grateful for the help given here. I just feel like I should be a little more self-sufficient by now. In other words, be able to communicate with my Innermost more effectively. Instead of having to rely on others. We are taught to search within ourselves for the answers, but all I'm finding right now is more questions. Who's questions? My ego's of course. I feel stupid for even posting on this forum, because I know it is my ego that is asking. What is a boy to do? Meditate........right......

The אין Ain
Abstract space is the causa causorum (בראשית Beresheet = the origin) of everything which is, has been, and will be.
The profound and joyous space is certainly the incomprehensible “Seity” that is the ineffable mystic root of the seven cosmoses. It is the mysterious origin of all of that which we know as Spirit, matter, universes, suns, worlds, etc.
“That,” the Divine, the space of happiness, is a tremendous reality beyond the universe and the Gods. “That” does not have any dimension, and truly It is what always will be and has been. It is the life which intensely palpitates within each atom and within each sun.
Is “That” [אין Ain] Spirit? Truly I tell you that It is not. Is “That” [אין Ain] matter? Certainly I tell you that It is not.
“That” [אין Ain] is the root of Spirit and of matter, but It is neither Spirit nor matter.
“That” [אין Ain] overcomes the laws of number, measurement, and weight, side by side, quantity, quality, front, back, above, below, etc..
“That” [אין Ain] is the immutable in profound divine abstraction. Light which has never been created by any God, neither by any human being. “That” [אין Ain] has no name. – Samael Aun Weor

בְּרֵאשִׁית, בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים, אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ
“The origin, the creation of the Elohim, the heavens [Sephiroth] and the earth [matter]” - Genesis 1:1

Let us now talk about the “Ocean of the Spirit.” How can It be defined?
Certainly, the Ocean of the Spirit is Brahma, which is the first difference or modification of “That,” [אין Ain] before which Gods and human beings tremble.
Brahma is Spirit, but “That” [אין Ain] is not Spirit. Ain the Unmanifested is Uncreated Light. – Samael Aun Weor

And the earth [the Materia Lucida] was [תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ] formless and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And [Brahma, our Innermost] the Spirit of the Elohim moved upon the face of the waters.

Earth is Malkuth or Materia Lucida, it is Akasha, the primary matter, formless and void, which manifests in degrees or gradations. In the beginning, this materia matrix is the Ain Soph, and is an equivalent of Mulaprakriti, Akasha, primary substance, the ethereal substance that fills the entire space, it is the mysterium magnum, semen of the alchemists.

Earth, Malkuth, is Mulaprakriti, the Ain Soph, the primordial substance, which is the basis of every dimensional phenomenon, the Akasha radiates in any of the seven cosmoses. Thanks to the semen [Materia Lucida, Akasha], we are a Microcosmos in potentiality.

Now: תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ tohu ve bohu can also be translated as chaos or Uranos, within the Ain Soph, that is difficult or impossible to intellectually comprehend.

Not in the Absolute, but in the universe, there are three types of chaos or tohu ve bohu:

1= Daath: the primeval Macrocosmic tohu ve bohu or chaos of the creative sexual force of the Word, out of which is Kabbalistically explained the formation of the universe.

2= Yesod: the venerable Microcosmic tohu ve bohu or chaos of sex, out of which is Kabbalistically explained the formation of the human being. As above, so below.

3= Klipoth: the inferior (Latin: infernus) tohu ve bohu, Tower of Babel, or chaos, where the devolving egos dwell; hell. The subjective reasoning within the intellectual animal relates to this type of tohu ve bohu or chaos where only disorder reigns. Obviously, the chaotic disorder of the subjective reasoning within this humanity is what creates the common and ordinary Karma.

Conclusion: The psychological human in us is still formless, because instead of the Being we have the Ego, full of sin, who is chaotically abiding within tohu ve bohu, a void of darkness, Klipoth.

Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah,
the Root of David, has prevailed to open the book,
and to loose the seven seals thereof. - Revelation 5: 5
