I'm a bit confused about leaving the body. Here's what I've gathered.

Meditate before bed

Lay down on your back

Fully relax until you reach the state of vigil and dream.

Think you are a soul, and leave the body.

-------------

So when you get to the leaving part, do we actually attempt to leave like if we were to psychically get up from bed or do we imagine it - some say to imagine a rope pulling you.

Thinking is an obstacle to dream yoga. To actualize a conscious astral projection, don't think.

When you find yourself transitioning into the dream world, you must actively get up out of your body. This is not imaginary. It is actual!

So, actually get up. Got it!

What worries me is knowing when to actually get up.. so if I do get up, and I'm still in my body.. I'll have to restart. Which would lose me sleep.. but all I can do is practice :)

You can sometimes sense electrical vibrations during the process of detachment from the physical body. You will see and feel that you are the consciousness within the body, and that you will be able to willingly detach from it. When it happens you will know!
