Dante says that in the 9th circle of hell, the tears of the souls there are frozen in their eyes.. that they are denied even the comfort of tears.

Is this because their astral bodies, their emotional vehicles, are being disintegrated and emotion is no longer possible for these souls?

Yes, the lost souls are disintegrating with inconsolable suffering. Because they are dissolving in the ninth sphere, their tears solidify and freeze, signifying how they cannot escape their suffering and must undergo annihilation in the center of the earth. To spiritually fail is the worst kind of emotional pain one can experience, which occurs gradually. The soul gravitates within the lower spheres of the inferno, suffering more and more, until crystallizing and disintegrating through inertia in the ninth sphere.

Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.

Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.

"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"
