Greeting!

As I go down this path I have been working on getting rid of desire. As I go about this task I feel as if it's impossible because now I have noticed that I am just desiring not to desire.. please help me understand this puzzling thing.

The problem is the english word "desire." It is too broad.

Desire simply means "longing," but there are different kinds: the longings of the ego are different from the longings of the consciousness, even though we have trouble distinguishing between them.

Suffering is caused by the desires of the ego: lust, pride, envy, anger, etc. Those are the desires we must focus on initially.
