(Sanskrit इडा) A deep, significant word in Hindu esotericism. Literally, "speech, food, praise, particular artery on the left side of the body, animation, stream or flow of praise and worship, goddess iDA or iLA, commendation, recreation, comfort, tubular vessel, heaven, refreshing draught, cow, vital spirit, libation, refreshment, earth, offering, at this moment."
The word ida is especially utilized to indicate the feminine serpent of our internal energetic bipolarity, which is symbolized on the Caduceus of Mercury, and in the bible by Eve, the olive trees, and the Two Witnesses. Ida is related to procreation.
