Guardian of the Threshold

"The Guardian of the Threshold is the human “I”...

"The Being is pure, yet the human “I” is a horrible larva. The Being is transparent like crystal, yet the human “I” is monstrous like Satan. The Being is never offended by anything, yet the human “I” is offended by everything. The Being is indifferent before pleasure and suffering, before praise and insult, before victory and defeat, yet the human “I” is offended by everything; it suffers and cries, enjoys and seeks pleasures.

"The human “I” always seeks for security, yet the Being is never afraid, and this is why he never seeks for securities. The human “I” is afraid of life, afraid of death, afraid of hunger, afraid of misery, etc. The “I” of humans exploit each other because of fear. They go to war because of fear. They steal and accumulate because of fear. They kill because of fear. They arm themselves because of fear.

"The Being is beyond desire, beyond attachment, beyond yearning and fears, beyond death and the intellect, beyond human will, beyond intelligence. The Being is the Tree of Life.

"The human “I” becomes intellectual and suffers because of its attachments and fears, because its jealousies and passions, its egotisms and hatreds.

"Let us not confuse the human “I” with the “I Am” of which Jesus speaks to us. The human “I” is the larva of the threshold, whereas the “I Am” is the Crown of Life, the resplendent Crown of the Being.

"The human “I” speaks of honors, seeks satisfactions, is subject to like and dislike. All imperfection in us is related to the horrible human “I.” The Being is beyond like and dislike, pleasure and suffering, intellect and reasoning.

"We have to kill our human “I” in order for our Being to be born in us." - Major Mysteries

"Many esoteric ordeals exist on the initiatic path. It is necessary to pass through the ordeal of the Guardian of the Threshold in the three planes: astral, mental, and causal..." - Aztec Christic Magic

"...we have the guardian of the threshold of the astral world, the guardian of the threshold of the mental world, the guardian of the threshold of the causal world (these are three guardians)." - Parts of the Being, Understanding Others, Revenge and Justice

"These are the three aspects of Judas, the Three Furies. They are the Demon of Desire, the Demon of the Mind, and the Demon of Evil Will. They are the three Upadhis, bases, or lunar foundations that are within each human being. Let us think of the three presences of the Guardian of the Threshold within the interior of each person. The Apocalypse says: "And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs came out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth, and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty." - Revelation 16:13-14 - Magic of the Runes

"Theurgy is one thing and Necromancy is another... The internal master of the Theurgist is the Intimate. The internal master of the Necromancer is his Guardian of the Threshold to whom they call the guardian of their consciousness, the guardian of the precinct, the guardian of their chamber, the guardian of their sanctum... The Intimate is our Divine Spirit, our Real Being, our Internal Angel. The Guardian of the Threshold is the internal depth of our animal “I.” The Intimate is the ardent flame of Horeb. In accordance with Moses, the Intimate is the Ruach Elohim who sowed the waters in the beginning of the world. He is the Sun King, our Divine Monad, the Alter Ego of Cicerone. The Guardian of the Threshold is our Satan... our internal beast, the source of all of our animal passions and brutal appetites... The Real Being of the Theurgist is the Intimate. The superior “I” of the Necromancer is the Guardian of the Threshold. The powers of the Intimate are divine. The powers of the Guardian of the Threshold are diabolic. The Theurgist worships the Intimate. The Necromancer worships the Guardian of the Threshold. The Theurgist avails himself with the power of his Intimate in order to perform his great works of practical magic. The Necromancer worships the Guardian of the Threshold for his works of black magic." - Samael Aun Weor, The Revolution of Beelzebub
