A French historian and linguist who lived in Tibet for fourteen years
and became a Buddhist Lama during a period in which foreigners were not
allowed into the country. She studied Tantrism with great enthusiasm,
meeting yogis, hermits and lamas including the famous Thirteenth Dalai
Lama. She spent many years in meditation retreats and wrote extensively
of her experiences in many books.
