Genesis and the Shock That Creates a Human Being



Tonight, we are going to begin our lecture in order to prepare the enviroment. Thereafter we will perform some healings, and finally the Gnostic Unction.

First of all, I consider that it is necessary to change. We must leave the state in which we are. A total transformation inside of ourselves is urgent.

Indubitably, no process of change can occur without a special shock.

Obviously, the seven notes Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si are related to all events in life. 

Obviously, Do-Re-Mi implies a series of events. But observe that between Mi and Fa there is an interval. Fa, Sol, La are the next notes, thereafter between La and Si there is another interval.

If one proposes to perform a program, one must inevitably begin with the note Do, continue with Re and reach Mi. Upon getting to this part, one has difficulties, inconveniences at the interval between Mi and Fa, because the current of sound tends to return to the original starting point. As a consequence or corollary, it is typical that the initial effort declines, and the project fails. But if one makes new effort in order to get through that interval, the pause between the notes Mi and Fa, it is obvious, expected, that one will maintain a straight line and even increase the impulse one initiated, and the enterprise will triumph. 

Continuing, we see that the notes Fa, Sol, La come later, but between the notes La and Si there is a new interval. If the initial impulse is not reinforced, the current of sound will return to its starting point and the enterprise, project, or business will fail.

So, this about the seven notes of the musical scale is very important. This subject about the current of sound is formidable.

We must give a shock to the sound, namely a shock between notes Mi and Fa and another between notes La and Si. A shock is always needed in order for us to exist, to achieve change, transformation. 

A child is born, he comes to the world. The first shock that he perceives is that of the first inhalition of air that he receives. As the oxygen comes, upon receiving it for the first time, the child lives. Therefore, we need this merely physical shock to exist. 

It is also certain that if, for example, instead of us breathing oxygen, nitrogen, etc. we breathed carbon monoxide, the shock would be produced, but it would not be accepted by the body, the body would not accept this shock and death would be the outcome. 

As for this our very bragged about modern civilization, it so happens that it needs a shock in order not to die, in order not to be destroyed. This shock could only be given through a civilization immensely superior to ours. Only in this way could our civilization not die. The type of shock to be given to this agonizing civilization must be invented. Sadly the type of shock needed to permit this civilization to transform itself and continue to exist has not yet been invented. Obviously, because of the absence of this shock, this civilization will have to die, this is clear. 

Proceeding forward, we will have to contemplate the human being under the light of Genesis, only then will we understand what kind of "shocks" lead us to the Inner Self-realization of the Being. 

What does Genesis tell us? It tells us that:

"In the beginning Elohim created the Heavens and the Earth..."

The learned ignoramuses suppose that it refers exclusively to the macrocosmic Heavens and to the merely physical Earth, the planet Earth upon which we live. We do not deny that Genesis also addresses our planet Earth, among other things, but specifically Genesis is referring in a concrete manner to the microcosm, the human being. The heavens are states of consciousness within us, within every person. As for the Earth, it is the physical body of the human being, the Philosophical Earth cited by medieval alchemists. So:

"In the beginning Elohim created the Heavens [the higher states of consciousness of the human being], and the Earth [the physical body]."

Genesis continues:

"And the earth was formless and void and the spirit of Elohim moved upon the face of the waters..."

What is being addressed here? It is simply addressing the ignorant person, the tri-brained or tri-centered biped mistakenly called human being, the "intellectual animal", which is a disordered and empty earth, because the mind is in the most complete disorder. The intellectual animal is a true chaos that only believes in what the five senses perceive, who lives in the world of animal passions, who knows nothing about reality, about esotericism, who is absolutely ignorant, that has never received a ray of light in order to be enlightened, etc. The intellectual animal is the ordinary humanoid, the person in the market, the person in the public square, the sensual and gross, "vulgar person of the Earth" cited by the gnostic ritual of 2nd degree. That sensual and gross type is the average living humanoid, the average of all the millions of human or humanoid beings currently living on the face of the Earth.

But how can those humanoids can get out of that state? Let's imagine for a moment that we climb a tower to observe the humanoid crowds. How do we make them come out of the state they are in? There is no doubt that each of those people who generally make up the crowds is a messy and empty Earth, this is obvious. So, what to do? A special "shock" is needed. Only in this way could they change, only in this way, with this special"shock" is it possible for them to come out of that state.

Genesis states that Elohim created light.

“Elohim said: Let there be light and there was light..."

...and thereafter Elohim separated the light from the darkness. What darkness does Genesis refer to? Well, to the darkness that is within oneself, within this Philosophical Earth. But what kind of darknesses are those? Those darknesses are constituted by the inhuman psychic aggregates that personify our defects of a psychological type, namely anger, greed, lust, envy, pride, laziness, gluttony, etc. Well, I have only mentioned the seven deadly sins, these are multiplied by another seven and many others, more and more... they are legion.

Let's think about what the psychic aggregates are. At one time Virgil, the poet of Mantua, said,

"Though we had a thousand tongues to speak and a palate of steel we would not be able to fully name them all..." 

That's how innumerable our defects are! They constitute the darkness that we carry within.

Thus, to separate the light from the darkness is something tremendously difficult. That light is the superlative consciousness of the Being. That light must be snatched out of the darkness, that is to say, by freeing the consciousness from the bottle. Extracting it from each inhuman psychic aggregate, in fact, involves terrifying super-efforts to be made on oneself and within oneself, here and now.

Snatching the light from the darkness! That means destroying all those receptacles in which the essence is inserted. It means to disintegrate those aggregates, to pulverize them, so that the light of the Essence is liberated. That is what is meant by separating the light from the darkness.

"And Elohim called the light day, and the darkness [of ignorance and error] he called night."

One has to know how this is to be understood and comprehended, I think the brothers and sisters are reflecting.

How to Become a Human in the Image and Likeness of Elohim

Thus, continuing with Genesis, we see how the creator, the Elohim, separates the superior waters from the inferior waters. This belongs to the field of alchemy.

Obviously within us there is the Brute Azoth, in other words, the raw matter.When the Brute Azoth or raw matter, which is nothing other than the Exiohehary — that is to say, the sacred sperm — is transmuted, in other words when the internal secretions of the sexual endocrine glands are transmuted, then we obtain energy. That energy will ascend towards the brain through its respective channels, which are very well known in esoteric anatomy. That energy is substance. We understand that we have arrived to monism ["oneness"], which says there is no difference between energy and mass. The energy of the Third Logos is energy and substance at the same time, a substance that rises though the spermatic channels towards the brain. That substance-energy is undoubtedly the metallic soul of the sacred sperm, the Exiohehary.  That metallic soul of the sacred sperm is energy and substance at the same time. As substance, we can call it, the Mercury of Secret Philosophy. This is not a dry mercury like that (lust) of the “I”s or psychic aggregates that personify our errors; no it is not (lust), since this is a liquid or aquous mercury.

“And Elohim said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the (superior mercurial) waters, and let it divide the waters from the (inferior) waters ." - Genesis 1: 6 

Thus, beholding these things from this point of view, we see how the superior mercurial waters are disjoint or separated from the inferior waters. Behold here the separation of the waters of Genesis. 

And Elohim made the firmament, and divided the (inferior) waters which were under the firmament from the (superior mercurial) waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.” - Genesis 1:  7

It is clear that those superior waters are the mercury that has to pass through many faces before becoming worthy of receiving the sulfur.

In the beginning those mercurial waters are as black as charcoal. Subsequently, based on great sublimations, meaning, by refining the sacrament of the church of Rome — this is the church of love, because in Latin Romae inverted is amore — thus, by refining that sacrament, I say, and this is true, one acheives making the black waters white, and subsequently yellow. 

In alchemy there are various animals that allegorize these phases of the mercury.  It is stated that in the beginning the mercury is black and is represented by a black raven. Later it turns white and is represented by a white dove. Then it turns yellow and is represented by a yellow eagle. Finally, it is red and is represented by a red pheasant. So, Mercury has to go through four phases: 1st black, 2nd white, 3rd yellow, 4th red. Those phases are made possible by sublimation, by work in the forge of Cyclops. So you are understanding the sacrament of the church of Rome, and you already know it since you know that the Latin word Romae inverted is amore.

So, when the Mercury has turned yellow, it obviously receives the Sulfur. What is Sulfur? It is the sacred fire; the fire has to fecundate the Mercury. So, fire mixed with the currents of mercury ascends through the spinal medullary canal to the brain.

We have spoken about the superior waters, yet what about the inferior waters? These inferior waters which at the beginning were black and are thereafter cloudy and finally become completely clear, they have to become crystalline like flexible, maleable, liquid glass. This is what is called "separating the waters from the waters so that the dry land emerges." What dry land are we referring to? To what dry land does Genesis allude? Well, to the superior existential bodies of the Being, that is what Genesis alludes to.

Obviously, the ascending Mercury mixed with the sacred fire or Sulfur, also carries a certain amount of Salt, sublimated and crystallized Salt in us, within ourselves, according to the law of octaves.

In Alchemy, the scrambled Salt, Sulfur and Mercury receive a name; these are called Azoe. That Azoe in general will crystallize within us according to the law of octaves. In a higher octave it will crystallize in us becoming the astral body, and that crystallization is also verified or carried out according to the law of seven, the law of the eternal Heptaparaparshinock, according to the seven musical notes: Do, Re, Mi , Fa, Sol, La, Si. In a higher octave, with the same notes of the scale, Salt, Sulfur and Mercury crystallize as the body of the mind. Finally, a third crystallization comes to fruition with the causal body or body of conscious will. If someone possesses the physical, astral, mental, and causal bodies, for this reason that one can receive the ethical, soul or spiritual principles that will turn him into a human "in the image and likeness of Elohim."

"So Elohim created man in his own image, in the image of Elohim created he him; male and female created he them. And Elohim blessed them, and Elohim said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And Elohim said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And Elohim saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” —Genesis 1: 27-31

All the processes that are in the Bible, where allusions are made to every herb bearing seed, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed, are symbolic. Obviously, the Tree of the Science of Good and Evil must bear fruit in us. That seed must germinate in us. The lights of the Spirit must illuminate us. The Spiritual Sun must give us its light until finally, after so many works of Alchemy, eliminating the psychic aggregates, taming the fish and animals that we have within us and making us kings and queens, their lords until they are destroyed, then the human appears made in the image and likeness of Elohim on the sixth day of creation.

Nonetheless, just for such a reason, he is not yet the living soul of the seventh day. The human of the sixth day is made only in the image and likeness of Elohim, but he is not the living soul of the seventh day. The living soul is the human of the seventh day, that is indeed the living soul, the human who has become integrated with divinity, the superhuman, the Resurrected Master, which is tacitly alluded to in the second chapter of Genesis. 

Thus, in order to transform ourselves into humans made in the image and likeness of Elohim, we need a shock, that is, the hidden, esoteric knowledge. Obviously, in order for a human in the image and likeness of Elohim to become living soul we need a third special shock.

“And Jehovah Elohim (Binah) formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” —Genesis 2: 7

Let us specify: in order for the physical human body to exist, we need a physical shock, which is the air we breathe at birth. Now, in order for the human made in the image and likeness of Elohim to exist, another shock is needed that is defined with those words that say: 

“And Elohim said, Let there be light: and there was light. And Elohim saw the light, that it was good: and Elohim divided the light from the darkness.” —Genesis 1: 3, 4

The ignorant layman needs a special shock. The layman needs someone to teach him, he needs to receive the lights of esotericism; that will produce in him a special shock. Only that special shock can transform the layman. Later, it can turn him, let's say, through alchemy into what is called a human "made in the image and likeness of Elohim" on the sixth day. 

Yet, on the seventh day, things are different.

How to Become a Nephesh Chaiah: a Living Soul

In order to become a living soul, a human of the seventh day, another very special last shock is needed. A human of the sixth day is a human made in the image and likeness of Elohim, but he is not a living soul; it takes a third shock to become a living soul. If a human of the sixth day, made in the image and likeness of the creator wants to become a living soul, he must become resurrected, and he or she could not become resurrected without a special shock. They need to descend, go down to the infernal worlds, to the Ninth Sphere, to disintegrate the demons of the dark moon. 

I have explained unto you many times that the psychological moon has two faces, the one that is seen and the one that is not seen. Just as the visible moon has two faces, the one that is seen and the hidden one that is on the other side, so I also have to tell you that the psychological moon within ourselves has two faces, the one that is seen, that is, the defects that are seen with our simple sight, and a face which is not seen, which is hidden. Many saints who progressed a lot became stagnant, believing that they had finished with the ego; yes, they had destroyed many inhuman elements of the visible part of their psychological moon, but they had not disintegrated the inhuman elements of the hidden face of their psychological moon. They absorbed themselves into Nirvana or Mahaparanirvana, convinced that the undesirable elements of their psyche had been disintegrated, pulverized; later they realized that they had not yet reached the goal, they had many undesirable elements left in the hidden part of their psychological moon. They then had to return to their esoteric work. My dear brothers and sisters, it is good to understand that as long as one has not eliminated the indesiable elements of his psyche, he is obviously wrong. Those who think that it is possible to advance without eliminating the undesirables elements of their psyche are mistaken, totally mistaken.

The human made in the image and likeness of the eternal living Elohim who created the heaven and the things there in, the earth and everything that exists, must necessarily receive a special shock if he truly wants to become a living human. That shock would not be feasible if he or she were not to descend to the ninth sphere, only there is that shock possible, only there can that special shock be received, and only receiving it there it would be possible to disintegrate the undesirable elements that he or she carries inside.

This kind of work related to the blackmoon is called in esotericism “the initiation of Judas,” that is to say, the Passion of the Lord. Rare are the human beings who have reached such heights. However, I comply with showing you the path that leads to the final liberation.

That road is not for fools. It is not for people who are bottled up, for instance in the moral codes written by so many intellectual humanoids. It is a difficult road. It is called "The Starry Road." It is so called because it is symbolized with eight stars in the sky, a path full of unforeseen dangers, a path of anguish and pain.

Nicolás Flamel, the famous medieval alchemist, walked on that path. That path that leads to Compostela. You have to understand what the word Compostela means. "Compo" means to receive, and "stela" means stella, star: to receive the Star. In order to become a living human, one must receive the six-pointed star, that is, the seal of Solomon. This is also duly documented with the tomb of the Initiate that must shine.

Do not forget that the Divine Mother Kundalini is the one who raises the tombs of the initiates. When I say tombs of the initiates, I am not referring to physical tombs but to psychological tombs where the remains of the dead "I's" must be deposited; the tomb shines in the initiate when the “I's” are inside the tomb, that is what the six-pointed star signifies.

The pilgrim who goes to Compostela, Nicolás Flamel, symbolizes, among other things, the Mercury of the Secret Philosophy or the Apostle Santiago [James]. Obviously the twelve apostles of which the Bible speaks, are not merely twelve historical apostles as the learned ignoramusses suppose, no; those twelve powers are within the Being. These are twelve autonomous and self-cognizant and even self-independent parts of our own particular individual Being.Of those twelve apostles, the most interesting of them is James the Greater. Santiago (James) represents the Mercury of the Secret Philosophy, and Mercury is the foundation of the Great Work. 

The twelve Apostles historically existed, I do not deny it, but they symbolize or allegorize the twelve apostles that each one of us carries within. However, I do not mean to say that all those present here have already incarnated the twelve apostles, I do not go so far. I do not want to exaggerate the issue.

If we want to incarnate the twelve, for that it is inevitably necessary to have psychologically died, to have destroyed the ego. These twelve powers were obviously deposited by the Lord in the womb of the Divine Mother Kundalini; from there they arise, come, enter our physical body.

Do not confuse these twelve powers with the twelve faculties; we have twelve, that is, five ordinary senses and the seven churches of the Apocalypse. There are twelve faculties, and these are not the twelve powers, but they are related in one way or another to the twelve faculties.

So, my brothers, and sisters, Santiago (James) for example, represents the Great Work. The teachings of the Great Work come from the Father of all Lights and reach our mind through Santiago.

Within us, there are twelve powers, there are twenty four wise men, there are four elements, and so on and so forth. The Being of each one of us seems like an army of innocent children, of infants. Each of the parts of the Being has autonomy, self-cognizance, and self-independence. We need to perfect each of the parts of the Being, that is right and completely true. But this is only possible by eliminating the subjective elements of perceptions. 

To perfect the higher parts of the Being, that is very difficult. The one who achieves perfecting the higher parts of the Being receives the degree of Ismesh. Few are those who get so high.

The Power of the Shock 

We must begin now by creating within ourselves the human made into the image and likeness of the Creator. This human cannot rise to existence without a special shock. This shock is that of Gnosis, it is that of the light that will take one out of a chaotic state and convert one into a self-realized human. But, if we just remain there, we would go badly. We need to become superhumans. We need to create, to make the living soul, the human of the seventh day, arise within us. For this we also need a special shock that the learned ignoramuses do not understand. 

When an initiate who is a human made in the image and likeness of the Creator tries to convert himself into a living soul human, he is not understood. Now you can explain to yourselves why the twelve apostles were calumniated. They were calumniated by the "virtuous ones," they were calumniated by the priests of the temple, and they were calumniated by the "elders." Who are the "virtuous ones"? Who are the "priests of the temple"? Who are the "elders"? This is worth explaining. 

The "scribes" are the intellectuals, those who are attached to so many rancid and putrid codes. Those are the falsely virtuous ones who condemn the initiates.

Who are these "elders," really? They are simply people, very full of experience, very judicious indeed, but they never understand the initiates.

At last, who are the priests? The people of each culture. 

So the twelve saints, the twelve powers, the twelve apostles, are usually calumniated, but they march firmly to where they must march. James the Greater, the blessed patron of the Great Work, is firmly on the road that leads him to Compostela; I am speaking in a superior, esoteric language.

So therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, observe that those shocks that are received are necessary for the transformation, they are vital. 

There is a book that can guide all of us. Any of you can find it in the market, it is sold in lots, but no one, holding it in hand, no one is able to comprehend it. Who is worthy to open the book and untie its seals? None could in heaven or on earth. I am referring to the Apocalypse of Saint John. Nobody understands that book. Thanks to that, they have not adulterated it, if not by now it would be a corpse. Since they don't understand it, they have left it alone.

In the Apocalypse of Saint John, there is all the Science of the Great Work. There is James, he appears in the Apocalypse, he carries a rod, in his hat a seashell, he leans on his staff, the rod. In the other hand he holds the Apocalypse, in his hat the shell shines, that hat is made as weird thing with a pumpkin. Let us remember that in the middle ages, many mystics carried the blessed waters in a pumpkin, that is to say, the mercury of secret philosophy.

The Apocalypse can guide us if we receive teachings from the Father of all Lights; it is possible to receive them through James. James is the Mercury of the Secret Philosophy, and it must be prepared in the forge of the Cyclops, in the Laboratorium Oratorium of the Third Logos. There the Mercury is prepared and it must be worked on. We need Mercury and Sulfur properly mixed with sublimated Salt. 

In the middle ages, clavicles were used in order to invoke Lucifer. Of course, a lot of courage is needed in order to make those type of invocations, since these type of invocations are very dangerous, because if the individual does not yet have the structure of an adept, of a theurgist, when performing a type of invocation like this, one can receive a shock like the shock that was received by this good fellow apprentice that died after 13 days.

Regarding this topic it is not irrelevant to remember again what happened in Costa Rica, the case of a prostitute that lived in a state of drunkenness from one tavern to another tavern, and in the midst of her drunkenness, and even if her words sound grotesque, for the benefit of the great cause, it is convinient to repeat them, and excuse me the expressions, she used to exclaim,“I do ten, fourteen, or fifteen, even twenty men a day, and if the Devil crosses my way, I will do him, too...” So, it happened that on a certain occasion, which is very well known in a town of Costa Rica, a handsome sailor arrived at her door. Thus, as usual, the woman did not have any inconvenience in wallowing with him on her Procrustean bed. After their fornication, the woman sat at the door of the whorehouse, gazing towards the street. Suddenly, the young lad, called her from within the bedroom, saying, “You do not know me. Turn around and look at me so that you can get to know me.”

The wretched woman, obeying the instructions of her lover, got up in order to approach once more the interior of her abominable bedroom. Thus, when staring at the one who had just been her instrument of pleasure, she saw Lucifer fashionably disguised as an horrifyingly terrible and tenebrous devil as mythology paints him, with all of his cavernarian horrors. That woman fell instantaneously unconscious on the floor. Three days after she died in the hospital. 

The narrator told us that the smell of sulfur persisted for some time within that whorehouse, and because of that smell, people avoided walking on the street where that whorehouse was located. Before dying, the unhappy woman narrated what happened to her… She could not endure that experience. That woman died.

What happened to her? Well, it is clear that her own Lucifer, that was very repulsive, intervened for her own good. Possibly, better said, not possibly for this is obvious, Lucifer was sent by the Ancient of Days, by her own inner Father who is in secret, and acted, became physically materialized. Of course, the lesson for that wretched woman was so terrifying that she disincarnated. 

Later, the outcome of all of this will be marvelous, given that the wretched female died filled with terror; thus when she once again incorporates, when she is born in this world again, when she gets a new physical body, it will be very difficult for her to return to prostitution, since that terror, that psychic shock will remain within her consciousness. So, it is more than likely that in her future existence she will resolve to walk on the straight path, on the path of chastity, since the lesson that she receive was very bitter.

By judiciously analyzing this narration, we practically discover an operation of moral asepsis, a method of urgency taken by that woman’s own interior Lucifer for her sake. Undoubtedly, her inner God commanded his shadow, his Lucifer, to materialize in that shape before the wretched woman. So, her inner God commanded his Lucifer to become visible and tangible before her and even to copulate with her… Obviously, her Divine Inner Sun could not have made such an apparition in order to perform that copulation, but his particular shadow could, since it is polarized negatively with respect to the positive light. Thus, it is evident and manifested that Lucifer could do all of this. Remember Lucifer is a stair to descend and a stair to ascend.

In any nascent universe, there are descents and there are falls. The Elohim must go down, in any case they need to descend, expand themselves so that later they will victoriously ascend. In other words, any ascension is preceeded by a descension. Any exaltation is preceeded by a frightful and terrible humillation. If not, where is the merit?

In order for an Elohim to submerge in the absolute, first of all it has to be a creator Elohim in order to submerge in Aelohim. Aelohim is Aelohim, and Elohim is Elohim. Aelohim is the Eternal Common Cosmic Father, the infinitude that sustain all, the Omnimerciful, the Ineffable Absolute. Elohim is the second unity, the manifested unity, the host of creative Elohim, the host of the androgynous that created the universe, etc. In other words, the Army of the Word. Indubitably, the Elohim that submerges within the bosom of the Eternal Common Cosmic Father enters the Absolute, and receives its true name; that name is paramarthasatya.

A paramarthasatya is something ineffable, impossible to comprehend at simple sight. A paramarthasatya is beyond good and evil, beyond personality, individuality and the “I.” A paramarthasatya is transparent like crystal, terribly divine. Those who achieve converting themselves into paramarthsatyas are very few.

If one defeasts temptation, then one defeats Lucifer. When one defeats him, then on his back one triumphs and ascends. Remember that in The Divine Comedy, Dante Alighieri and Virgil descend through the ribs of the lord Lucifer, and they also ascend through the ribs of the lord Lucifer, since Lucifer is the stairs to descend and the stairs to ascend. If we defeat temptation, then we ascend through the very ribs on the back of Lucifer. So Lucifer places temptation for us so that we can ascend. Behold Christ disguised as Lucifer! How grandiose is Kristus-Lucifer when placing himself  as ladder for us so that we can rise.

So when we talk about the lance and all of that, we must know how to understand. Thus, when an initiate does not pass through the death of the ego, when he has not been decapitated, then obvisouly he marches of the path of error.

Whosoever immerses in the bosom of the Eternal Common Cosmic Father will never return to sex again; but it is very difficult to absorb oneself into the bosom of the Eternal Common Cosmic Father. Rare are those who achieve it. Impossible no, but very difficult. Only those who immerse themselves in the bosom of the Eternal Common Cosmic Father are those who have knocked on the door 13, in the Ain, in the Unmanifest Sat. Only those can afford to pass beyond sex.
