The knowledge that we seek to understand is symbolized in the book of Genesis as a tree whose fruit Adam and Eve are forbidden to eat.
Now the Lord God took the man, and He placed him in the Garden of Eden to work it and to guard it. And the Lord God commanded man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat. But of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat of it, for on the day that you eat thereof, you shall surely die." - Genesis 2:15-17
Adam and Eve make the mistake of being tempted by the fruit of the tree of knowledge and from that moment suffering began. If we look at it historically, all of the suffering that we have, the suffering of death, of age, of illness, of pain, emotional pain, spiritual pain, began with that mistake. But we know that every symbol in the Bible and all the great scriptures holds more than one meaning, and in the Gnostic tradition, we go deeper than the literal meaning and penetrate into the other levels that are hidden from those who are not specially educated or initiated.
The recitals of the law are the vestment of the law. Woe to him who takes that vestment for the law itself! David had this in mind when he said: Open Thou my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Thy law (Psalms 119, 18), i.e., what is hidden under the cloak of this law." There are foolish people who, when they see a man covered with fine clothes, look no further than the garment, and yet it is the body that lends value to the clothes; and still more precious is the. The law also has its body. There are commandments that may be called the body of the law, and the ordinary recitals which are mingled with them are the clothes which cover the body. The simple-minded take heed of nothing but the vestments or the recitals of the law; they know nothing else, and do not see what is hidden under this garment. The well-informed think not of the vestment, but of the body that the vestment covers. Finally, the wise, servants of the Supreme King, they who dwell upon the heights of Sinai, think of the only, which is the foundation of all the rest, and which is the law itself, and in time to come they will be prepared to contemplate the spirit of that spirit which breathes in the law." - Zohar, part III, fol. 152a
In Bershit / Genesis, the original Hebrew saysTob vey Ra, which means “knowledge of good and evil,” and the Hebrew letters in this phrase hide a lot of important meanings.
Those of us who have some background in the Jewish or Christian religions are familiar with the story of the man and woman in the primeval garden, who, it is said, were there in complete innocence and happiness, without any manner of suffering or death. It seems a fairly common understanding that if you have a story about a naked man and a naked woman in a beautiful garden, somehow sex must be part of the picture; there must be a sexual aspect. Yet, unfortunately for many centuries, public religions have failed to explain the sexual symbolism hidden in this ancient story. This is much to the detriment of this world, because in fact an in depth understanding of the tree of knowledge of good and evil is precisely the doorway out of suffering. It is the doorway back to Eden. We know this is true because the first letter of(knowledge) is , which in the Hebrew language symbolizes a door; this is the doorway back to Eden. It is through knowledge, through or (Greek for knowledge), that this fallen humanity can return to a state of happiness, a state of ecstasy or bliss, which in Hebrew is Eden. The word Eden literally means bliss or pleasure. This again points out to us that the garden of Eden and the story of the tree of knowledge must have something to do with sex. The very name Eden means pleasure.
The second letter in this wordis , which as a symbol on its own means “to know, to experience, to see, to perceive.” It has two Iods at the top of its shape, which can represent the eyes; not necessarily the physical eyes, but that manner in which we perceive, and gain experience or knowledge.
As we discussed in the previous lecture, has a duality, it has a dual potential, also represented in its structure of two parts. , this doorway of knowledge, can lead to good or evil, Tob or Ra. symbolizes this duality, and is why in Kaballah we know that is the pathway to either iniquity or to modesty ( ) . These two words in Hebrew start with .
Therepresents two paths also. In reality, this is one path but which goes either up or down. This path is sexual.
Theis the heart of . These are the two sides of .
The third letter is, which is the last letter in the Hebrew alphabet, the twenty-second letter, which contains the entire alphabet. All the mysticism of Kaballah is hidden within the . It is the seal of the covenant, the stamp that wraps everything together, and this is why this letter in Kaballah is also said to be dual. Both of these words end in :
Here again the Kaballah hides in its very letters the two ways that(knowledge) can take us.
If we meditate upon these symbols, we can easily come to the realization that there are two paths available to us through sex. If, knowledge is sexual, than there are two ways to use it:
We have further evidence that knowledge () or “to know” is sexual: by the use of the word knowledge in the Bible.
Now the man knew his wife Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain... - Genesis 4:1
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS...
Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? - Luke 1:30-34
Knowledge implies sexual knowledge.
We do not study this just for the sake of theory or because it is interesting. We study this because we are tired of suffering. We study this because we want a fundamental change in our experience of life. We want a fundamental change in our experience of death. We want to know. We want knowledge,. Therefore, this knowledge of is very practical, and when applied in our daily life can render great change if we use it wisely; but we need to understand the difference between Tob and Ra. We need to understand the symbolism of Adam and Eve in this book, in this great kabbalistic symbol.
Every symbol has multiple levels of meaning. Adam and Eve have a literal meaning related to ancient humanity who made a mistake; Adam and Eve also have a physical meaning related to our physical body and its energetic counterpart. In this context, Adam represents the brain. Adam, our mind, is tempted by our inner Eve, which is the sexual organs. Our mind is tempted because it likes pleasure, and is tempted by the fruit of sex () through Eve (the sexual organs), who, in turn is tempted by the serpent, which is a symbol of our own inner tempter, our own inner Satan.
Adam and Eve also represent husband and wife. Through the cooperation of a man and a woman, the return to Eden can occur. For that, however, we have to know the laws of Eden, and how to come back into harmony with those laws so that we can return to Eden. Knowing how to discriminate between Tob and Ra is of critical importance.
Tob means good or goodness. To be in harmony with the laws of Eden is to follow Tob. The three letters of Tob (, , and ) contain that knowledge. Tob, good, goodness, relates to our own inner Spirit, : love or goodness. is our inner Being, our inner Spirit; but unfortunately we have been under the illusion of the serpent and have fallen into the path of Ra.
Ra does not mean evil in the sense of a great villain like from the movies. Ra means “the impure spirit,” pollution: psychological pollution, spiritual pollution. It is made of the two lettersand . This is the negative of iniquity and death. Ra, pollution, and is specifically sexual. Specifically, Ra refers to sexual crimes committed in the temple of God, which is our own selves.
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor a person who commits extortion will inherit the kingdom of God.” - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
All of these named here are egos, desires. People tend to read this passage literally, as if it is an indication towards particular people. What we fail to realize is that all of us have Ra within, that impure spirit, and all of us have these different desires or latent tendencies in our own mind. Every one of us has the elements of adultery in our own mind, because all of us have broken the commandment that Jesus explained beautifully in the Gospel:
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman toafter her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. - Matthew 5:27-28
It is explicitly clear that this is a form of adultery, and all of us are guilty, so we cannot claim that other people are adulterers while we are. That element is in our mind, and the same is true ofand idolatry. To be an idolater is to worship anything other than God. We do not really worship God; we worship our pride, we worship our need for security, we worship our , we worship money, we worship our fear, we enthrone our memories, our resentments. We have many elements in our own mind that we idolize, we worship, and these are all because of the influence of Ra, the impure spirit. Ra is our own egotistical psyche.
So many religions fail to address why the tree of knowledge is sexual. There are so many contradictions in religions and in the teachings of our modern theories. What this teaching tells when we look into its depth is that in the beginning God placed a man and a woman side by side in Eden (blissfulness). Only because of falling to temptation were the man and the woman ejected from Eden, and that is when death and suffering began. This tells us is that there is a secret knowledge available between man and woman – it is this knowledge of The Sacraments of the Gnostic Church. I point this out because in order to understand this path of Tob, we have to recall that marriage is a sacrament: a sacred act. Marriage, the union of man and woman, is part of the divine laws of nature. It is the basis of creation; creation occurs because of the union of man and woman. Without that union, there is no creation. Likewise, the cannot be created unless a man and woman unite. This is how Jesus explained it: that we must be born again.. Yet, it is very strange that so many religions now reject the union of man and woman as a path to God. For centuries, they have said that a person needs to be alone, to be a so-called “celibate.” This is nowhere demonstrated in the Bible or in any religion, except when Paul was explaining some very subtle things which are greatly misunderstood, about being a eunuch. Jesus spoke of this also, and we have discussed this at length in a course called
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. - John 3:1-7
This is the second birth, which is the result of the path of Tob. This is why Tob ends in the letter. is the second letter of the Hebrew alphabet, but it is also the letter that begins the Bible:
Genesis (creation) begins with the letter. This is the letter of the , she who has the Immaculate Conception. This can only occur between a man and a woman. There is no other way. It is written:
Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. - Hebrews 13:4
This statement very clearly illustrates the two ways to use sexual knowledge (). In other words, the Bible says that marriage is honorable (Tob) if it is undefiled. But if it is defiled, by , adultery, , by Ra, the iniquitous spirit that tempts the mind through sex to indulge in eating the fruit, then God will judge.
We need to recall that the very first miracle that Jesus performed to demonstrate his mastery was at a wedding. This is no accident; it is not happenstance. It is because the wedding is sacred, and in the wedding is found the heart and root of his teaching, which unfortunately was excised out of the Bible by ignorant people, and only shards of it remain in the Bible.
This teaching that he gave at the wedding was to transform water into wine; what is the wine? It is the wine of the Eucharist, the blood of: it is Shamayim, Hebrew for the fiery water that descends from above. When that water is transformed through sexual transmutation, can save.
He that have faith [pisteuō] in me , as the scripture hath said, out of his abdomen [koilia] shall flow rivers of living water [all life emerges from the sexual water]. - John 7:38
saves through the fire in the water. The fire is force of the Spirit.
For the Lord your God is a consuming fire... - Deut 4:24
Jesus taught the path of our inner Father, to love our own God with all of our heart and mind and strength, with all of our. This inner Father is our own inner Ruach .
In the beginning [Bereishit] of's creation of the heavens and the earth.
Now the earth was astonishingly empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep, and the spirit of God [Ruach] was hovering over the face of the water. - Genesis 1:1-2
In the very beginning of the Bible we read about the days of Genesis, which symbolize the creation of the man, creation of our own spiritual being, how we walk through. The one who hovers over the sexual waters is the spirit of the : the Ruach . This is our own inner Being. The Spirit of the is , goodness, love, mercy, our inner Spirit, our own individual inner Father. Every person has their own inner Father, and that inner Father is a particle or a spark of the great Blaze, which we call God. Our own Inner Father is God. It is individual in us, and every one in us has that within, but undeveloped, and the collection of them all is that great unknowable divinity. This is how we see that polytheism and monotheism are actually the same thing. But to get to the point, what is hidden here when we analyze Tob and its relation with the Ruach , that Spirit that hovers over the waters, if you add up the numerical values of the Hebrew letters of the name Ruach , the result is three hundred. The number three hundred in Hebrew letters is . The letter symbolizes fire.
The letterlooks like a trident that has three points. It looks like a flame or a fire. It has three Hebrew letters at the top. Those three points are the trinity:
When it descends from those ineffable worlds above, first manifests as Spirit,, Tob, goodness, our inner Father who is that Spirit hovering over the waters ready to create. represents that fire of divinity. It is all these levels above related with and . Through those supernal worlds of , emerges , and from emerges .
is deeply related with , the third Sephirah, which is the Holy Spirit. It is in that third Sephirah, which is a three–in–one. We can see its structure: three points in one shape. is the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit always appears as a fire, as a great blaze.
And- -Vau- went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night... - Exodus 13:21
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they [the Apostles] were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind (), and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire ( ), and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit ( )... - Acts 2:2-4
This is the Holy Spirit, the creative and destructive power of God, which is fire.
When that force manifests, it does so through, the upper Eden, which in Hebrew is called Shamayim.
Shamayim is usually translated as “heaven” in the Bible, but literally it is– – – , which means “fiery waters.”
The fiery water is the upper Eden,. In the Bible, God separates the waters from the waters, the superior from the inferior.
And God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the water [mayim], and let it be a separation between water and water." And God made the expanse and it separated between the water that was below the expanse and the water that was above the expanse, and it was so. And God called the expanse Heaven [Shamayim]... - Genesis 1:6-8
The lower waters (mayim:- - ) are the lower Eden, related the sexual organs. The upper waters (Shamayim: - - - ) are the upper Eden, related to and the Holy Spirit. The difference between them is : the fire.
It is through the fire that God creates and destroys.
This is the power ofin the Shamayim, which is separated from the Mayim of , the lower Eden, which is sex. There is a deep relationship between these two.
Throughout the Bible we find scriptures telling us that God is fire. In Deuteronomy, it says “for the Lord your God is a consuming fire.” In the book of Matthew, John the Baptist says: “He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire who’s fan is in his hand and he will thoroughly purge his floor and gather his wheat into the garner that he will burn up the chaffe with unquenchable fire.” In Luke it says: “I am come to send fire on the Earth.”
Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. - 1 Corinthians 3:13-17
, the knowledge of good and evil, is the knowledge of fire: how to use the fire. That fire is sexual. Those who have reached maturity know that fire is sexual, because it boils the blood. When our sexual fire is activated, it is because the from above is stirring the waters of the mayim in our sexual organs. It is thorugh sex that we have the power to create as Gods. This is because in our sex is the , the fire of creation.
Yet, because we have the impure spirit alive in our mind, when the sexual fire boils our blood, the tempter is there in our psyche and physiology calling for that energy, tempting us. Temptation is fire, but remember: light comes from fire. If we want the light for our, we take it from fire. When we conquer temptation, we transform that fire into light. This is what the teachings of are all about: how to transform that sexual fire into light.
In Hebrew, fire is Esh, which is spelled- .
by itself can represent fire, but as the word fire, we put the first. Why? is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. is a sacred letter that represents the upper spheres on the tree of life. It is one of the mother letters of creation, and represents the element of air. represents fire, and for fire to burn, there must be air. For God to create, God first has to inhale.
And God [inhaled, then] said, "Let there be light," and there was light. - Genesis 1:3
What is exceedingly curious and overlooked by centuries of theologians, scholars, and debaters is this word Esh (fire) in the Bible, and how hidden and how beautiful it is when you see the meaning. Many hundreds of years ago, Rabbi Akiba gave the clue:
“If husband and wife are deserving, Gods presence dwells in their midst; if they are not deserving, fire devours them.”
The Hebrew word for man is Ish:- - . If you put a into the fire, you make a man.
If you remove the, you are left with fire, Esh. The symbolizes the phallus, the masculine sexual organ. It also symbolizes a man or a person.
Furthermore, the Hebrew word for Woman is Isha:- - .
Thein Hebrew letters symbolize the womb, the uterus. If you take the out of the word woman, the fire remains. So in the very basis of man and woman the fire remains and what distinguishes them are the sexual organs, and . These two letters are the first two letters of the divine name of God:
Iod-Hei-Vau-Hei: man + woman, phallus + uterus: sex.
Within every man there is fire; within every woman there is fire. If man and woman know the knowledge of, the path of Tob, they can take advantage of that fire in order to walk the path, to be in harmony and to enter Eden. If they do not know this knowledge, then the fire burns them. We see this is true: the fire of sex is at the root of so much pain, so much suffering, and yet we continue to believe that we can indulge in our desires and continue to ignore these fundamental truths.
If these two fires are brought together in the path of Tob, in purity, those fires are united and transformed and become the basis for creation.
And the Lord God built the side that He had taken from man into a woman, and He brought her to man.
And man said, "This time, it is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. This one shall be called isha (woman) because this one was taken from ish (man)."
Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother, and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Now they were both naked, the man and his wife, but they were not ashamed. - Genesis 2
When ish and isha become one flesh, they can create like God. They become the basis for Genesis within Bereishit. This is why they are not ashamed: they obey the law and dwell in Eden, in pure sexuality, without shame, suffering, or death. But when they become tempted by desire, they are destroyed by the fire, and Ra emerges.
The Kabbalistic tradition says that it is impossible to put this fire out. You cannot, because the fire is life. Life itself is this fire. It cannot be quenched. It either needs to be maintained or destroyed: it may not burn fast, it may be slow, but it is a fire. It requires great intelligence () to manage it properly.
The Kabbalists state that if one leaves the fire as it is and does not take conscious control over it in accordance with the divine law, it is impossible to manage because it generates evil (Ra). In other words, if someone tries to avoid the sexual fire as in so-called celibacy, that fire destroys. We have seen plenty of that in recent decades, witnessing so-called celibates who become child molesters and abuse other people sexually, or who become tyrants. In fact, misuse of the sexual fire was the root of the horrors of the Spanish Inquisition; those so-called celibates were unable to utilize their sexual energy properly and it rotted their minds, making them violent fanatics. That is why they committed so many horrible acts of violence.
That sexual fire, if not managed, becomes the source of Ra, evil or the impure spirit. Whether the sexual fire is indulged in or repressed, it becomes evil. The only way to use that sexual fire properly is through the path of Tob, which means to take a hold of that serpent and control it by will. That is not an easy task, but there is no other way.
In the Bible, the woman is not called Eve until after being cast out of Eden. Previous to the expulsion from Eden, Adam and Eve are called Ish and Isha. The word for woman (Isha) can actually be pronounced another way; there are multiple ways of pronouncing the same letters. If you say- - as Isha, it means “woman.” If you say - - as Ishe, it means “offering of fire.”
Previous to the woman being tempted by the serpent, she is called Ishe: offering of fire. She is not called Eve, she is called fire offering. Why is that?
Remember that the man and the woman have literal significance, but also psychological and physiological meaning. These symbols relate to our body. Our, our physical body, is feminine. That sephirah is feminine. The woman represents our sexual organs, while the man represents our brain. Previous to eating the fruit, the woman is an offering of fire. In other words, the sexual organs are returning the sexual energy back to God. They are offering that fire to God. They are not abusing the tree of knowledge. Ishe means fire offering. The woman symbolizes sexual transmutation: harmony with the law, and respect for the fruit of the tree of knowledge, sex. In other words, within the body of a person who dwells in Eden, their own Isha is Ishe: the own sexual organs are an offering of fire. The sexual fires are not used by Ra, the impure spirit, but by Tob, the Goodness, our Being.
It is only after she eats the fruit that she receives her name:
And the man named his wife Eve, because she was the mother of all life. - Genesis 3:20
In other words, that sexual fire that was previously going inwards and upwards to illuminate theand give life to the tree of life within, is now descending outwards to create physically, outside. Because of that, they were cast out of Eden.
This secret about the fire is the basis of, and is the ancient basis of all religions, which in their heart are all religions of fire. This is why fire has always been a significant aspect of any ritual or offering: the fire represents the sexual light that must be returned to God so that it can create within us, instead of outside of us.
Within us we have the Mayim, the sexual waters within our body, over which hovers the Ruach(which equals , fire). Everyday, that Mayim in our physical body receives , the fire of God, as sexual fire. That fire stirs the blood sexually. This is how we have a sexual drive. The sexual fire is generated every day.
When the man and woman unite and do not eat the fruit, in other words, they connect sexually and through willpower restrain the sexual forces, guiding them through remembrance of God,, and love for each other, their water and fire mix and form a very combustible element called Schamayim: the superior waters, the fiery waters. In this moment, the couple has the power to create through . Yet, that power is dual: the create through Tob or Ra. If they eat “the fruit of the tree,” the water is cast out and the the fire is extinguished. That fire polarizes negatively and becomes Ra. If they do not eat the fruit, the water is not released, the energies are retained and saved, and are returned inwards and upwards, up the spinal column, symbolized by the letter .
This why theis the central character in the word Tob. The symbolizes the spinal column, and it is through the spinal column that God creates. is used in a sentence to say, “and.” This is why in the Bible it says:
And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
And God saw the light that it was good, and God separated between the light and between the darkness.
And God called the light day, and the darkness He called night, and it was evening and it was morning, one day.
And God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the water, and let it be a separation between water and water."
Every “and” is a: the spinal column. Genesis is a symbolic explanation of how to create the man in Eden: through the spinal column.
In addition, after any ritual in the West, people always say “Amen” to seal the ritual. Amen has three letters:- - . In Hebrew, this word is called El Melech Naaman, which means “God, the faithful king” (El for , Melech for , and Naaman for ).
People say “Amen” as a seal or covenant in order to conquer their inner Ra. You say “Amen” through your throat () as a seal over Ra, and it becomes Amen-Ra, the name of the Solar in the Egyptian tradition. Amen – Ra, where that RA is transformed and purified, made clean. Amen-Ra represents how the Three Forces revert the Ra back to a state of purity.
In the Hebrew letters of Amen, theis the Air and the is the water. The Spirit ( ) is hovering over the waters ( ) right there in the Amen. The letter represents “life.” The letter symbolizes a fish, the fish of Jonah, the ‘leviathan,’ the fish which is the ancient symbol of Christianity.
Theis hidden in the seed, the sperm, the , the sexual energy. It is through the , the fish in the waters, the , that life emerges, and the is part of the Amen. What we need to understand is that the (which is also the final letter of the word Eden) is that force of life that descends and ascends through the spine.
If you spell out the letters for( , , Sophit), that word means “the superior light.” This is the light that emerges from the fire of , if we follow the path of Tob. So you see, there are many correspondences hidden in these letters and in these words - very deep meanings, which take a lot of to penetrate.
"And a river went out of Eden to water the garden" (Gen. ii. 10). This river, proceeding out of the secret place of the Most High, never ceases to flow down upon the world or the garden, as it is termed. This secret place of its origin or fount is symbolized by B, the first letter in the book of Genesis. It includes in itself all the other letters and symbolizes also the river which gives life to all things. The secret place resembles a narrow path most difficult to discover and walk therein, yet bestudded with many priceless gems.” - Zohar
The secret place is, the river emerges from the upper Eden and flows to the lower Eden, which we reach through sex. Eden means “bliss,” so that river represents the waters of sex. That river creates all life and gives life to all things, and that secret place is a narrow path “most difficult to discover.”
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. - Matthew 7:14
That narrow gate isand is reached through the river that flows down through .
“From it proceed two great life forces, indicated by the word ha-shamayim (the two heavens) and used in scripture to denote the source of this mystic river. The words that follow after, viz., "veath haaretzs" (and the earth) possess a mystical meaning, implying that the mystic river flowing down from the heavens on to the earth will bring with its waters peace and salvation to mankind, which will in their realization be the first fruits when heaven and earth become united and blended together.” - Zohar
This passage reveals the meaning of many symbols in the Bible and other scriptures. The synthesis of it is that from Eden flows the river that brings peace and salvation IF we follow the path of Tob: not eating the fruit of the tree. If not, if those waters are cast out of our earth (body). If the sexual fruit is abused, then those waters which flow from the Shamayim to Mayim inflow outwards and downwards and form Ra, the impure spirit, which in the Tree of Life is called , or Hell. In other words, the river that emerges from Eden becomes the rivers that flow in Hell.
Dante described the rivers in Hell, and they are described in the Aeneid and in many other books from different mythologies. Those rivers in Hell are the waters of the same river that emerges from Eden. It is that fiery water that emerges from Heaven, but when misused creates the fiery pit of Hell: Ra.
This is all hidden in the scripture. It does not mean that this is physical or literal, outside of us, and this is the key point. This is all psychological. This is what happens to us when we abuse sex. We can observe it in our own life when we fall under the temptation of the serpent who tempts us through sex. Our own inner Isha (woman, the sexual organs), gives in to the temptation to have sex in spite of the divine law. That law says “thou shalt not fornicate. Thou shalt not adulterate.” Yet our desires (the serpent) tempt the sexual organs (Isha, woman) who want to taste the sexual fruit () and so she tempts our brain (Ish, the man), who uses reasoning to justify his interest in fulfilling his desire. When we fall into that temptation and we commit that sexual act, the sexual water that flows down from Heaven that gives us life flows out of its proper place in us psychologically, and that sexual fire burns us. Those heavenly waters become the waters of Hell: the fires of burn us psychologically.
Every one who has become sexually active has experienced that transformation. What does that burn feel like? It is not physical, it is psychological. What is the first sign that we should know of this? It is in the Bible. As soon as Adam and Eve ate the fruit, what did they feel?
"I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I am naked; so I hid." - Genesis 3:10
Shame. They felt ashamed. They wanted to hide. All of us who have committed this mistake have tried to hide it, even from ourselves. But some of us hide it in funny ways. Many people just hide it altogether. They do not want to talk about it, they do not want to think about it, they want to forget that they made the mistake. This is avoidance or repression. But on the opposite side of the pendulum are those people who boast of it. They trying to hide their guilt and shame by getting other people to accept them, to admire them, to envy them. But it is driven by guilt. It is a form of shame that is externalized as pride.
The expulsion from Eden happens in us everyday, and is a mistake that everyone is making because no one is educated in. Because of that, suffering multiplies. To return to Eden, to go back into that bliss, we need to control those fires and make our Isha, our sexual organs, into Ishe, a fire offering. In other words, we need to take those forces and give them back to God, to let God take control of that part of our life.
This is another interesting thing about our psychology: many people are very spiritual except when it comes to sex. Many people love Jesus or Krishna or Buddha, but do not want to think about Jesus or Krishna or Buddha when they are in the bedroom. Why? God made sex; why should we be ashamed of it? We are ashamed of sex because we know in our heart of hearts that we abuse it. When we learn how to respect the tree of knowledge in ourselves, we learn how to retain those fires. In other words, we stop fornicating.
If you look in any book of etymology, most will tell you thatcomes from an old word from the fourteenth century: fornix, which means “a vaulted archway.” Yet, that is not the actual root, that is not the whole root. It is only a branch of it. The actual root of that word is Gwere, from an ancient Anglo-Saxon language. Gwere is the root of many common words, such as “to heat, to warm, to burn.” comes from the same root as the word furnace or oven. This makes sense when you know about about this teaching and the role of fire.
When a couple or an individual abuses the sexual waters, that fiery water and that water is expelled through the: this results in a fire that burns, fire that harms. That is : the furnace, the fire, that burns.
How do we know this so? This is the secret doctrine that has long been hidden. Yet, there is ample evidence of it in the scriptures.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. - 1 John 3:9
What is the seed? The, the fish, the seed of life, the germ, the sperm, the , the sexual water. He cannot sin because he is born (again) of God, be means of retaining the sexual seed.
A man from whom there is a discharge of, shall immerse all his flesh in water, and he shall remain unclean until evening. And any garment or any leather [object] which has on it, shall be immersed in water, and shall remain unclean until evening. A woman with whom a man cohabits, whereby there was [a discharge of] , they shall immerse in water, and they shall remain unclean until evening. - Leviticus 15:16-18
Uncleanliness, impurity, Ra, comes from sexual emission:.
It is explicit in the Bible, and yet for centuries people avoid these passages because they do not want to face the facts of what is written there.
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself [his desires], and take up his [sexual] cross, and follow me. - Matthew 16:24
Jesus said anyone who would seek to follow his path must first deny themselves. That is the denial of our own inner fornicators, our adulterers, our idolaters, our, our own Ra. When we do that, we begin to take control over those energies. By means of this, we begin to develop the capacity to walk in the fire without being burned.
Then King Nebuchadnezzar was bewildered and stood up in haste. He shouted and said to his leaders, "Did I not cast three men into the fiery furnace, bound?" They answered and said to the king, "The king is true."
He called out and said, "Behold, I see four free men walking in the midst of the fire, and there is no wound upon them, and the form of the fourth one is like [that of] an angel."
Then Nebuchadnezzar approached the gate of the burning, fiery furnace. He shouted and said, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, the servants of the Most High God! Step out and come!" Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego came out of the midst of the fire. - Daniel 3
This is a symbol related to transmutation.
In ancient times, the beginners who were being introduced into this knowledge would go through a period of sexual abstention or. In Sanskrit, this state is called Brahmacharya. This is a period of preparation for marriage within which the individual begins to train themselves to enter into the sacrament of sexual union. This is where we got the basis of so-called celibacy. There are two main times: one is before marriage, the other is after. In the Bible, Paul addresses these two states. People misunderstand what he wrote. Nonetheless, Paul exhorted his students to maintain their :
...they that have wives be as though they had none... - I Corinthians 7:29
Meaning: to continue to save the sexual energy, even though one enters into the sexual act.
Jesus states quite clearly in the Bible how to be a Eunuch for God. Nonetheless, whether we are single or married, the teaching is very clear. In the Bible it is written in Thessalonians:
Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit (sex). - 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8
In other words, sex comes from God, but sex used in the right way for sanctification.
So how does upright sexuality work? We know that through eating the forbidden fruit through the emission or ejaculation, those energies are cast out of the body. If the sexual energy is retained, the fires are retained, and this is the basis of Taoism,, and . These traditions teach us to hold that force, transmute it, and use it. This is why the book of Revelation says:
And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God...
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. - Revelation 3
“To buy gold tried in the fire” is to utilize these fires ofin sex, to remove the impurities. This is what you do when you put gold in the fire: you melt it to take all the impurities out. This is the ancient symbol of : the Chemistry of God, which is to extract the impurities and make pure gold, the Gold of Spirit, the Gold of the Solar bodies, the Mercabah, the chariot of God.
“That thou mayest be rich” is to be rich in Spirit. When we have accumulated the Gold of the Spirit, we become spiritually rich. The Spirit is our own inner Father, to have that within, instead of being filled with the spiritual emptiness and pain that we have now.
The white raiment “that thou mayest be clothed” is the, the wedding garment that is required in order to attend the feast of the lamb.
And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. - Matthew 22
That thy shame of thy nakedness do not appear. Remember the shame and the nakedness of Adam and Eve: right now, we are not clothed. We all live with this spiritual shame everyday. Yet, through transmutation and the proper use of sexual energy, that shame is removed. Then there is no shame about sex. Then, we approach sex with honor with sanctity in remembrance of God. Then, we can stand before anyone, including God, with honor and dignity. We can return into Eden, spiritual bliss.
“And anoint thine eyes with eyesolve.” This relates to the story from the previous lecture, where Jesus places the spit of his mouth mixed with soil on the eyes of the blind man to heal him. This healing is related with the letter, the sight, how we see and know and experience. Through the transmutation of the sexual energy, our inner sight is restored, our connection with God is returned.
Remember in the Bible when the man and the woman are cast out of Eden, they can no longer see God; when we return to Eden, we can see God again.
The three parts of this passage represent the awakening of the. This is how we awaken the . This is how we develop the and become a true human being.
The fire that tries the gold removes the impurities. This is represented in the book of Genesis when God destroys Sodom and Gomorrah. Sodom and Gomorrah were two cities that were famous for their sexual crimes.
Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven...
And he [Lot] looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah [cities destroyed because of sexual crimes], and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace. - Genesis 19:24, 28
Those are psychological cities that we have within. These are the sphere of Lilith and Nahemah, the two wives of Adam, the tempting feminine spirits that call us to fornicate and commit adultery. Lot who was faithful to God was told to leave, and the cities were destroyed by fire. And listen, it says: and Lo the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace. From.
So to summarize this we’ll read this passage from Corinthians:
Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.- 1 Corinthians 3:13-17
Question: What about when Jesus says we should be hot or cold?
Answer: That passage has several levels of meaning. It relates to Brahmacharya: the cold path and the hot path are the two ways of transmuting the sexual energy: either as a single or in a couple. To be lukewarm is to be doing neither.
This passage can also relate to choosing a path: straight or spiral. To be lukewarm is to be in the middle and not defined. To be lukewarm is to be in the Arcanum 6, like us: not going anywhere. If one is cold, one chooses the easier path. If one is hot, one chooses the difficult path.
Question: How does this relate to the Atlanteans?
Answer: The literal or historical story of man and woman being cast out of Eden relates to the time of Lemuria, which was the civilization previous to Atlantis, and the fall of the Lemurians is symbolized there. The fall of the Atlanteans came later and is related to the great flood. During the Lemurian age, the human beings of that time were tempted and that is where this whole problem began to unravel. It is a long story.
Answer: There is a lot of knowledge hidden in these letters. It is very challenging to navigate them, as I’m sure you’re experiencing right now, but if you are patient and have fidelity that you demonstrate through your actions to your own inner Being that you are serious and committed and you make your effort, He will guide you.
It is not necessary to memorize all of this. What is necessary is to do the work. That work is daily and moment to moment. The fire that emerges within us is the sexual fire, but it is also a psychological fire because we manipulate those forces with our willpower.
It is not important so much to affirm to yourself that you are going to walk on that path. What matters is that from moment to moment you make the decisions to do it by controlling your energy, by using your energy wisely. We have within ourselves all the elements that we need in order to return to Eden, whether we are single or in a couple.
We talk a lot about the sexual cooperation between a man and a woman, and it is a very important aspect of; yet a person who does not have a partner can work and can achieve great things, because these forces of man and woman, or Adam and Eve, are within us.
Do not think that because you are a single person that you cannot start to work until you’re married. We do the work from moment to moment, no matter our circumstances, no matter our station in life, no matter our difficulties or limitations. If you have a physical body and you have a, then you can work. That work is done from moment to moment. It is continual. It is not done only when someone has sex or does not have sex: it is done through how we use our energy through our .
, the doorway of knowledge, is within us, not outside. We choose between these paths of Tob and Ra through our actions from moment to moment, consciously, not by intention, not by wishing, but by what we do. This is why the scripture says we are measured by our works, that our works will be made manifest: meaning, that our works will be brought into the daylight. If we are doing things that we are ashamed of, if we are doing things that we wish to hide, we should reconsider our actions. Nothing is hidden from the light of God. Therefore, do only what is good (Tob) and you can return to Eden.
