Many students write to us with this problem. Unfortunately there is the tendency in the mind to transform the teachings of psychological and mystical death with a sense of gross morbidity, pessimism and shame. This is a completely wrong attitude and is contrary to the teachings of the great initiates, especially the writings of Samael Aun Weor.

When students solely concentrate on the negative, oftentimes a sense of helplessness, cynicism, self-defeatism, and self-deprecation overcome them. Self-flagellation and repression are highly destructive emotions that should have no place within our heart. The solution is to develop comprehension of their opposites: the qualities and virtues of the Inner Being, which are altruism, diligence, chastity, humility, conscious love, philanthropy, and temperance.

If you feel overwhelmed by loneliness, negative emotions, and isolation, if you feel that you do not know how to relate to people, you must then seriously analyze your mind and contemplate the divine nature of God, the happiness of the Lord, who is within your own heart. Reflect on his divine qualities and let them be your own, and you will find that, through consistent meditation on God, a sense of security, peace and understanding will naturally irradiate from your consciousness, which will noticeably affect others. By having a deeper relationship with God, you will never feel lost, nor will you lack harmony with other beings, since Christ is the happiness of supreme fraternity and love within the temple of the heart, which unites all beings within universal compassion and harmony.

Also, cheer up! Have some fun! Do something to bring joy in your life. Find like-minded people, even if it is not “gnostic.” Play some chess, take martial arts classes, yoga; join coffee shop gatherings surrounding interesting topics and socialize. Don’t barricade yourself in a cave like Gollum from The Lord of the Rings. Instead, be interactive, try new things, and get out into the world, because that interaction will help break this spell.

Also, more importantly, meditate on the qualities of God, as I mentioned, since when you remember such qualities in you, you will then know how to relate to the world and others with much greater happiness, enjoyment, and love. As you can see exemplified by the great Master Sivananda, joy is the natural state of the consciousness.

May the most profound peace reign within your heart!

Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.

Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.

"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"
