Hello, has Samael ever talked about the psycholgocial work the spiritual aspirant needs to do around attachment to family? The mystical school I'm studying in focuses a lot on subjects similair to concepts from Jung and Freud like mother and father complexes. What is the gnostic approach to this with students and healing these relationships?

In Christ,
Daniel

The crude reality of facts demonstrates to us that many are those who have not comprehended the transcendence of the Gnostic esoteric work, and that great majorities are not good heads of households.

When one is not a good head of household, it is clear that one is not prepared to enter onto the path of the razor’s edge. In order to work on the revolution of the dialectic, one needs to have reached the level of being a good head of household.

A fanatic, lunatic, whimsical type of person, etc., cannot be good for an integral revolution. A subject who does not fulfill the duties of his home cannot achieve the great change. A person who is a bad father, a bad wife, a bad husband, or a person who abandons his home for whichever man or woman, will never be able to arrive at a radical transformation.

The cornerstone of revolutionary psychology requires that one has a perfect equilibrium at home by being a good spouse, a good parent, a good sibling, and a good child. One must have perfect completion of his duties that exist with this suffering humanity. One must convert himself into a decent person.

Whoever does not fulfill these requirements will never be able to advance in these revolutionary studies.

-Samael Aun Weor, The Revolution of the Dialectic

He that loveth (his psychological attachments to) father or mother more than me (the Cosmic Christ) is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter (psychological attachments born from past karmic ties) more than me is not worthy of me.

And he that taketh not his cross (of Alchemy in order to purify such karmic debts within the sexual crucible), and (does not) followeth after me (by renouncing psychological attachments born through the law of recurrence), is not worthy of me.

-Matthew 10:37-38

In synthesis, we must know how to be good husbands, wives, siblings, daughters, sons, fathers, mothers, etc. Without fulfilling our obligations to our physical families, how can we possibly fulfill our obligations to the Buddha (Samael), the Dharma (his teachings) and the Sangha (Gnostic spiritual community)?

Given this context, we can understand Christ's teaching given in Matthew about family, that it has to do with our psychology, and is not instruction that we must literally abandon our loved ones. That is a ludicrous and fanatic interpretation born from ignorance. What the passage indicates is that we must fulfill our obligations to family while overcoming the relative psychological attachments within ourselves. We must learn to live in the world, but be not of it, represented by the hanged Apostolate of Arcanum 12 in the Tarot.

Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.

Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.

"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"
