Inverential peace to whomever instructor will answer my question. Therefore, admittedly I have always had a strong intellectual center, and I always enjoyed reading science textbooks and easily grasped the concepts. It has recently crossed my mind--could it be that Divinity gave me this strong intellectual center to contribute new discoveries to humanity? Can I get an education in something like cellular biology or a relevant field, while simultaneously working on myself in terms of gnosis? I have attempted several times to read a book while practicing self-observation and what I notice is that once I'm reading the book, I no longer feel that I am observing myself such as my mind and my surroundings, if this makes sense. Has a master ever attended university, has a master ever been a chemist, a Biologist, etc? These fields have always fascinated me and upon discovering gnosis I wonder if science and gnostic spirituality can be combined? Can discoveries be made related to plants etc to help humanity come back to natural medicine? My biggest thanks as always and sorry for the complicated question. Again, inverential peace.

Hello Joshua,

Great question. When it comes to the intellect, the question we must ask ourselves is what is our Will? How do we choose to use our intellect? Is our desire to use our intellect to serve others or is it to serve self-interest?

I have shared below a response to a similar question:

On the intellect, Master Samael Aun Weor indicates that the subjective (common sensual) intellect is reasoning through the physical brain and draws from the external environment. He goes further to distinguish between the intellect that is used for the Great Work versus the intellect that is used for the service of the ego.

‘Two types of intellect exist: 1. The commonly known sensual intellect. 2. The intellect which is given by the Being; this is a conscious intellect.' - Samael Aun Weor, The Revolution of the Dialectic

The common sensual or subjective intellect is the capacity of reasoning and comparing (see Intellectual Animal). Related to the Intellectual Brain or Center, and to the physical brain.

The intellect is a very precious instrument for the Great Work of the Father, when it is absolutely used for the pure service of the Spirit. A mystic without intellect fails because of lack of culture (see Intellectual Culture). The intellect is satanic when it is used for the service of the internal beast. The intellectual villains (cynics and skeptics) are the result of intellectualism without spirituality." - Samael Aun Weor, The Aquarian Message’

So, pursue your interests, continue to contemplate how you can use newly acquired education and skills to serve others, work on eliminating the ‘sensual intellect’. In this way, perhaps more clarity will reveal itself in how your interests in science can align with your interest in gnostic spirituality.
