My son turned down acceptance and a full scholarship to a philosophy school, St. Johns College in Annapolis because he said his intuition told him not to go. He committed to getting a job but does nothing but pursue his spiritual pursuits and won't make any effort to find employment because any job we present to him does not resonate with his intuition. He has taken the teachings of Aun Weor to an extreme and basically has no friends or any interactions with other people unless we force him to. We are to the point where we are considering kicking him out of the house to force him to take some action. He has given all of his money away and only cares for his spiritual path. We support him pursuing spirituality, but he is unable to function in the real world with his current approach. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Samael Aun Weor explained that one must be a good citizen and know how to contribute meaningfully to society. You should show him the following excerpt because being a recluse does not fulfill the teachings.

For thirty years I sought God. But when I looked carefully I found that in reality God was the seeker and I the sought. -Bayazid al-Bastami

Yes, I now see it. Especially the points of by not being a good citizen you drive people from the path. We would not be able to reach people if we are not good citizens. They would be immediately turned off from the teachings.

We would be helpless if we didn't have others fulfilling doing their duties. We would seldom be able to survive. If we are going to take the leisure of all these things that society grants us, we have to give back. This is the law of the prophets "Do unto others as you want others to do unto you"

Here is a quote:
"Though the Innermost may seldom interest Itself in outer things, we should always do so, and strive to conform to the laws of this world." - M

If we do not conform to the laws of the world, we will not be able to reach people. And like Samael Aun Weor said, we may even drive people away from the teachings.

We are in the physical world (Malkuth) after all. We need to self realize in all levels, including Malkuth. This is not done by abandoning it; we have to master it!

The reply by Benedictus in this post has also been very helpful in regard to this question.
