I have an anxious attachment style, and I have recently broken up with a man that has an avoidant attachment style. I have tried to remain in contact with him for strictly platonic relations, however I find this to be greatly triggering for me. I am finding it much harder to accept the break-up by keeping contact with him, and I know if I just stopped all communication entirely I would feel much better very quickly.
What should I do in this situation? Part of me believes I should continue communication with him, in order to learn about my own greatest triggers. But I’m finding it truly excruciating to talk to him when he’s so aloof and disinterested in me now.

Meditate on your sufferings, of course.
But sometimes, for the good of everyone, we need to separate completely.
