The recent lecture on alchemy was excellent. I've been deeply interested in all the lectures pertaining to alchemy and would like to pursue a more practical understanding of the art.

I understand the need to transmute the trials associated with daily life and extract from them what is useful for spiritual development. I get the necessity of change, but I'm having difficultly seeing where it all leads.

Let me give a concrete example. By practicing self-remembering I am able to see a whole host of life-situations in which I could better conduct myself. Through reflection (Since I don't really leave my body during meditation I'm using the word reflection instead) I can see that the essence of most of my errors are related to psychological conflict (for instance: wanting two contradictory things).

So when I review what happens during the day, and come across these psychological “knots”, that's good I suppose, but I have no idea how to untie them. I see ego all over the place and even understand why I behave badly in certain situations, but I don't see how to bring these things to their definitive end.

I feel like I have all this material for contemplation, but nothing to do with it! What is the next step? Where does the actual change take place?

Thanks.

Can you recall the moment when you moved from learning to spell c-a-t and d-o-g to no longer even being aware of the spelling, and instead grasping the meaning? The same gradual transformation happens when we analyze our behavior. Little by little, we arrive to a stage in which intuition guides us towards the resolution of our problems. The important thing is to continually observe and reflect.
