I am interested, and plan to learn each of the letters, and have already been studying the tree of life for about 3 months now.

Do you think that it is necessary to learn how to fluiently read hebrew language to fully comprehend kabbalah?

I understand the importance of knowing the alphabet, and the numerology, combined with the esoteric truths it holds. This has been the extent of my study thus far.

Given that many great students of gnosis have already decoded and unveiled the esoteric significance of all the famous hebrew texts, would it really be a benefit sacrificing the amount of time it takes to read an entire learn a language? Or would it be better spent time in meditation?

Each one of us has to follow the guidance of our heart. For some, learning to speak and write Hebrew is important. For others, it is not.

As you noted, in Gnosis, we study the basic elements (letters, numbers) because they are useful for everyone. Yet fluency in Hebrew is not needed for everyone. What we need is fluency in the language of the internal worlds, which is not Hebrew, Sanskrit, Greek, or any other language we know here, even though all of them came from it.
