Publisher's Introduction to Lord God of Truth Within

This book was written in 1941 before the true heart of the teachings that lead to liberation from suffering was revealed to the public in 1950 by Samael Aun Weor. One can say then that this book was opening the door to that knowledge, and that is precisely what it still accomplishes. Yet, now that those teachings are available to everyone, this book is even more powerful; when you know that the source of liberation is within you, and you are using it daily for that purpose, the knowledge in this book is made truly practical, effective, and invaluable. Without that practical, daily transformation, this book remains veiled, impenetrable.

There are several words in this book that are used in a way that is different from modern use.

The author called his teachings Yoga, in the true sense of the word. The word Yoga does not mean the Hatha Yoga people are fascinated with today, but the true yoga, which is the science of awakening consciousness. He wrote here:

“The end of all true Yoga is to bring God realization to humanity which is union of the lower self with the Lord God of Truth within... Nature awaits man’s discovery of his power to reclaim his own lost birthright, the gift of the spirit. This lost birthright, when man seeks union with his Innermost, brings a greatly expanded consciousness to his mind.”

M uses the words “man” and “his” in the classical English way to indicate any person, whether male or female. Thus, “when man seeks union with his Innermost,” means when anyone seeks union. Therefore, do not be distressed by his use of the word “man,” and wrongly interpret it as sexist or somehow discriminating against women. Nothing could be further from the truth. In esotericism, men and women are viewed as equals in every respect.

Another word to be aware of here is mind (or mental), as in “brings a greatly expanded consciousness to his mind.” In this word “mind” M in synthesizing a variety of psychological arenas within us. For instance, he wrote:

“When the student is taken out of his body for the first time and accompanies his teacher upon a mental flight...”

This “mental” flight could refer to an astral projection, or a trip in any number of sephiroth on the Tree of Life, not merely Netzach, the mental plane.

Additionally:

“Initiation is the conscious attainment of illumination, of knowledge, and of power. It is an expansion of consciousness on the mental plane.”

Initiation is related to many sephiroth on the Tree of Life, not merely Netzach, the mental plane. The way to understand this use of the word is given here, by Samael Aun Weor:

“The entire universe is condensed mind. Universal mind waves saturate the infinite space... Even the astral body itself is nothing but the crystallization of the mental matter and the physical world is also condensed mind. Therefore, the mind is matter and it is very gross, whether it exists in a physical state or in that state called astral or manasic...”

So, M uses the words mind or mental to indicate the non-physical, psychological aspect, which as you know, has many levels. He synthesized many sophisticated concepts into simple words.

On that note, we encourage you to read this book carefully. There is very profound knowledge here, but it is not given explicitly or obviously.

Most of the footnotes were written by the original editor of the book in 1941. We added a few more for additional clarity.
