Moses, Moshe

One of the greatest prophets of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. Author of the Torah, also known as the first five books of the Bible.

The name Moses is actually Moshe משה; the letters Mem, "water," Shin "fire," and Hei "womb" literally mean "born of water and fire" - in other words, Moses was "born of the water and the Spirit (fire)" just as Jesus explained the Second Birth to Nicodemus.

The character of Moses / Moshe in the scriptures has symbolic and literal meanings, such as:

1. Author of the Torah (the first five books of the Bible), and prophet of the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim traditions.

2. A symbol of willpower, related to the sephirah Tiphereth.

3. A symbol of the Superior Manas / Human Soul / Causal Body, related to the sephirah Tiphereth.

4. A symbol of the pineal gland.

5. The Leviathan (Levi-tannyn).
