Students and even experienced disciples encounter this problem. The solution is not to repress the mind, to hide from it and control it by force, neither must we indulge in its desires. Instead, we must learn to comprehend our mind, since cognizance of our defects leads to their elimination within profound meditation and prayer to the Divine Mother.
Psychological elements perceived in action throughout the day must be analyzed in meditation. We must learn to comprehend our mind, for once we comprehend the destructive nature of lust, we cease to dwell on those thoughts. If we, however, do not comprehend our lust, but feel anxiety and stress whenever we encounter those elements in our mind, this leads to repression, which does nothing but exacerbate the problem. In order to dissolve defects, we must first comprehend them. This begins by learning to observe the mind, to not reject, indulge, or repress its impulses; neither to indulge, feed, and satiate our craving. Comprehension is the middle path and leads to peace.
