It is important to remember that our consciousness exists in a spectrum. Some of the heavier, denser materials are at the bottom (Klipoth), while our consciousness resonates in the level of Malkuth, even though our true identity (the Being) is in the higher sephiroth (the heavens). Where we gravitate depends on our level of being and how we use energy.
Now what is confusing for some is that some parts of you can already be entering devolution even while you are physically active. This is because an individual is a composite of many interdependent parts. Just as you look at a tree and know it is constituted by roots, trunk, branches, leaves, bark, sap, and other elements, likewise the soul has many parts that are often disparate and divided due to our own conditioning and mistaken actions. Similar to a tree, some parts of it can be sick while others are healthy. Its relative degree of health depends upon its ecology and the relationship of all its different parts with one another. If too much of the tree is rotten, then the rest of it goes. The same with hasnamussen.
There are two dynamics at play. Both are a form of divine compassion for hasnamussen:
1) The hierarchs of karma take parts of their ego and distribute them within animals, so as to give such beings a fighting chance at initiation. For "if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell" (Matthew 5:30). Such egos retrogressively transmigrate within more inferior vehicles until they are finally disintegrated through the second death even while the particular hasnamuss is trying to work in the spiritual path.
2) Hasnamussen who definitively refuse to eliminate their ego fully enter devolution. These are the rotten trees of life that have no possibility of redemption, because too much of them is sick. Their soul disincarnates from their humanoid body and enters into animal, plant, and mineral states throughout their descent in the nine infernal regions of Klipoth.
Two-brained beings do not remove ego. They are the vehicles through which some hasnamussen egos transmigrate in the process of devolution towards the second death. The ego loses volume in its transmigration within animal bodies, but only thoroughly disintegrates through devolution in the infernal worlds after having passed through animal, plant, and mineral states. Just as souls evolve from mineral, plant, animal, to humanoid states, likewise the law sends certain egos into devolution when they are particularly ripe, malicious, and degenerate, entering simpler and simpler organisms (animal, plant, and mineral bodies) in the process of diminishing the ego (until it is annihilated in the Ninth Sphere).
However, hasnamussen who enter the revolutionary, initiatic path enter the Ninth Sphere (the perfect matrimony) willingly, so as to definitively put an end to their defects and acquire objective reasoning.
Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.
Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.
"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"
