There are lots of bad things heaping for religions today like people killing while saying allahuakbar. So i discussed this with my muslim friends that why quran is making people kill eachother or people understand it wrong. Then i read quran bakara section of quran for myself to understand why are people doing this.
We read bible for its symbolic meanings. For an example when it writes god killed first born childs of egypt's for moses to escape, there is no real murder there, but there is a symbolic meanings, so can we read Quran like that?
''And kill them wherever you overtake them and expel them from wherever they have expelled you, and fitnah is worse than killing. And do not fight them at al-Masjid al- Haram until they fight you there. But if they fight you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.'' AL-BAQARAH 191
My muslim friend says for that surah ''if there is a war yes you can kill people, allah gives that right to you, allah know that you are human and he gives justice to you'' but if you are student of gnostics you already know that you can never kill people, if its writes or not. Killing must be wrong. And if there is a war you can't kill people either. Allah never wanted you to kill people i think.
So can we understand this surah in symbolic? What is the symbolic meaing for that surah? How should i approach quran? thank you for your understandings.
my limited english
and
ignorance
for you to answer.
