The Kabbalah of Christmas
The birth of Christ is always celebrated on the 24th of December, at midnight. This warrants reflection: why is it that on the 24th of the 12th month, at 12 midnight that we celebrate Christmas? The addition of 12 + 12 = 24.

The number 24 is kabbalistically resolved when we add 2 + 4 = 6. 6 is the Arcanum of the Lovers.

There we have the synthesis of 12 (one lover) with 12 (another lover) which together are the Arcanum 24. What does the Master Samael tell us about the Arcanum 24? He says, in the Pistis Sophia:
“On (Tiphereth, the sixth sephirah) the Mount of the Olives, the inner Christ profoundly reflects.
The Last Mystery is the Four-and-twentieth Mystery.
This is counted from within to without; you know this.”
The Divine Mother Kundalini works in the Four-and-twentieth Mystery, weaving on Her own loom.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Pistis Sophia
Let us go deeper in this kabbalistic explanation. Remember that the woman and the man have three brains: the intellectual brain, the emotional brain, and the motor-instinctual-sexual brain. These three brains have to be in the apostle, meaning, they have to apply with the number 12, which is the apostle.
If you add together the numbers of 12, 1 + 2 = 3. The apostle has to have his or her spouse. As I said, 12 + 12 = 24. When the spouses unite sexually, they work with the Divine Mother Kundalini, the Weaver. Who is the Weaver? She is the one that builds the Solar Bodies in the loom of God. What is the loom of God? It is the spinal medulla.
So, the Divine Mother, in the spinal medulla of husband and wife, works profoundly in the four-and-twentieth mystery, weaving on her loom, building what She has to build, when we work in Alchemy.
Behold here, why the birth of Christ is celebrated on the 24th of December, at midnight (12 pm). When the 25th of December comes, it is because the Kundalini, the fire of the Holy Spirit, has been awakened. That is the very beginning of our alchemical work, kabbalistically explained.
We are going to explain another kabbalistic and alchemical mystery, which is related with the book of Genesis:
בראשית ברא אלהים את השמים ואת הארץ
והארץ היתה תהו ובהו וחשך על פני תהום ורוח אלהים מרחפת על פני המים
This is translated as:
“In the Beginning, Elohim created the heaven and the earth, and the earth was formless and void, and darkness was upon the face of the Abyss, but the spirit of Elohim was hovering above the face of the waters.”
Let us explain this in relation with Alchemy, in relation with what we explained: one spouse is 12, and the other is 12. Thus, 1 + 2 = 3. 3 brains united with 3 brains = 6, the lovers. The lovers work with the Divine Mother, in order for Her to start doing Her work, in the loom of God, the spinal medulla.
As you can see, we are talking about creation. Not, however, creation as it is commonly understood: the creation of the animal physicality, the process of which we do not need to explain because we are very familiar with biology. Instead, what we are talking about here is Alchemy, which is related with the creation of the Solar bodies. This is what is written about in the book of Genesis.
So, let us start, with talking about the first word of Genesis, which in Hebrew is Berashith בראשית. We understand that the word Berashith בראשית contains 6 letters, the anagrams of which contain many mysteries. Significantly, however, these 6 letters of Berashith relate specifically with mysteries of the lovers, the 6th Arcanum, which in turn relates to the mysteries of creation.
The sixth letter of the Hebrew alphabet is the letter Vav, and it is related to the Sephirah Tiphereth, the human soul; yet in the holy name יהוהof Elohim, Vav is the third letter. In Kabbalah, Iod represents Kether, Hei represents Chokmah and Vav represents Binah. The kingdom of Binah, the Holy Spirit, is in Yesod, this is why Vav is spelled וו two Vavs, because one Vav represents the masculine sex and the other Vav the feminine sex in Yesod, the kingdom of Binah. Vav represents also the spinal medulla.
In Hebrew the letter Vav means “and,” and it has the sound “Va,” which relates to the sexual creative waters. This is why each verse of the book of Genesis begins with Vav: this represents the mystery of the lovers, the 6th Arcanum, sexually united and sublimating their sexual creative waters to their brains, in order to perform the six days of the first chapter of the book of Genesis, through sexual Alchemy.
Therefore, we can say that one important anagram is Bara-Taish ברא תיש. What is Taish תיש? In Hebrew it means “goat.” Let me tell you…
In the book of Numbers, there are many mysteries. One of those mysteries regards the permission to eat meat. Why? Because meat is related with the element of fire. In the Deuteronomy 14: 4, it is written:
“These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat.” - Deuteronomy 14: 4
You know that the goat is often depicted, through many symbols, especially in relation with the symbol of Baphomet.
In this symbol of Baphomet we find the head of a goat atop a human body with wings, seated on top of the planet Earth, with the caduceus of Mercury as a phallus, because it is a male goat. But this male goat has the breasts of a woman, and the body of a man. On the front of the caduceus, you find the symbol of the rainbow, around the waters. This is a beautiful symbol, a symbol of Taish תיש. Taish תיש is written, Tav-Iod-Shin, and we repeat, it means “goat.”
The phrase Bara-Taish ברא תיש, or Berashith בראשית is comprised of Bara ברא (meaning “creation, to create”) and Taish (“goat”) תיש. So, this word Bara-Taish, Berashith means to “create with the goat.” However, the goat itself is just a symbol of fire; it is fire, like a torch upon its head, between the two horns of that symbol of Baphomet. We have to understand that it is a very beautiful symbol.
That creature, as it is depicted, does not exist. It is merely a symbol of different elements, within which the fire is hidden. This fire is mainly hidden in face of the goat, Taish תיש.
So, “Berashith (Bara-Taish) Bara Elohim (“created Elohim”).” This is very profound. Master Samael Aun Weor tells us that the Elohim is the multiple manifested unity that emerges from the unmanifested multiple unity. In other words, Elohim emanates from Aelohim, the Absolute.
When you observe space at night, you discover that there are millions of stars, shining, sparkling in the darkness of space. Space is darkness, but there is an explanation for the darkness of space. Observe the light, or better said the flame of a candle. Light a candle and observe the flame. In the very bottom of that flame we discover darkness; we call that the black light. In Hebrew, this black light is called Hoshek חשך.
Above that is a dark blueish light, then you find that the yellow of the flame appears, and above that, the other colors of the light, the white. The fact is, the color of the flame is firstly black, then dark blue, then yellow, then white. That is how you simply describe the colors of any flame. The one that consumes the candle, that melts the candle is the dark light, it is the yellow and white of the flame that give light. This is how you describe Elohim. Elohim is the white light that emerges from the yellow, which emerges from the dark blue light, which emerges from the black.
Why are we talking about fire and light? Because people associate Baphomet with that very well-known Latin word, Lucifer. Lucifer is not a Hebrew word, as we said, it is Latin. This word in Latin is comprised of: Luci (Light) and Fer (carry, to carry, carrier). Thus, the word Lucifer literally means, “carrier of the light.”
So, what is the element, related with that which we have already explained in this lecture, that carries the light? It is the fire. Light a candle, and you will see how that candle, in darkness, will give you light. That light is what the book of Genesis calls, Elohim. In other words, it is the manifested multiple unity. That light emerges from Aelohim, the uncreated light of the Absolute Space. That is why Lucifer in Latin means, “carrier of the light.” That is the first manifestation, which is always represented by a Taish תיש, a goat, because the goat is a carrier of fire in our creative sexual waters which in the vital body vibrate between the knees and our genitalia.
Moreover, pay attention, the 24th of December is during the zodiacal sign of Capricorn. Do you realize that? Capricorn is the sign that is related with the goat.
So, Christ is born on the 24th of December, at midnight, in the zodiacal sign of Capricorn. Is that not intriguing?
Who rules the sign of Capricorn? Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. Saturn is related with Saturday. Saturday is related with Shabbat, the holy Shabbat, the Sabbath. When we kabbalistically study the planets that rule the Zodiacal signs, we just discover that Binah, the Holy Spirit, the 3rd Sephirah of the Tree of Life, is ruled by Saturn. The Gospels state that the Father of Christ is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit in Sanskrit is Shiva; in Christianity, it is the white dove. It is intriguing to see how the planet Saturn relates to Christmas.
What is the tree that is governed by Saturn? The pine tree. This is why we find that the Christmas tree is always related with the pine. The pine, according to Master Samael Aun Weor, relates to the mind. Saturn is the mind. Saturn is called “the Ancient of Days”; it is the Theomertmalogos. Saturn rules Capricorn, the sign of the goat. Saturn is also known as Chronos, in Greek mythology. So, we see how the goat, the symbol of fire, relates to the fire of the Holy Ghost.
Our physicality is known in esotericism as the “earth.” Of course, Saturn is in heaven, and in the earth, that is why it is written:
ברא-תיש ברא אלהים את השמים ואת הארץ
“Bara-Taish Bara Elohim Ath HaShamayim VeAth HaAretz ”
The creative fire (goat) created Elohim (את-Ath - the Shekinah) in heaven and (את-Ath - the Shekinah) in earth
So, obviously, the earth is the last Sephirah, counting from the top down. That 10th Sephirah is called Malkuth, and it represents our physicality, our matter. Above this, you find the Holy Spirit, which is symbolized by the dove, is one trinity, which in Kabbalah is called Kether-Chokmah-Binah, Father-Son-Holy Spirit. The Father governs the head, the Son governs the heart, and the Holy Spirit governs the sexual energy, the genitalia. This is how Father-Son-Holy Spirit, united in one trinity, fecundate Malkuth, our physicality, through Alchemy. Remember that we are talking kabbalistically here.
This is how it is written that Christ is the son of the Holy Spirit, and of Mary, which is Malkuth, our physicality. Here, we are talking about energies, energies that create within us that which should be created, when we know Alchemy.
This is how it is explained kabbalistically. The main point is this: in order for that light to shine within us, we need fire, because the fire enters into activity when we are sexually united with our spouse, alchemically speaking. That is why the book of Genesis states that, “the earth (our physicality) was formless and void.” But that “darkness was upon the face of the abyss.” It is true. If you observe yourself, you will see that you are formless and void. Void of what? Void of light. Formless in what manner? Because you do not have the human being created within you. Your physicality appears with the shape of a human being, yes, but in the depth of your psyche, you have many animal elements that should not be there.
The human shape, internally, psychologically, does not exist yet. That is why Genesis states: “and the earth was formless and void.” Why? Because “darkness was upon the face of the abyss.” In other words, darkness, in this case, Hoshek חשך, is acting, manifesting, through an animal. We must behave, sexually speaking, like a human being, in order for our Elohim, better said, the Spirit of Elohim, to work in ourselves. That is why Genesis says, “and the Ruach Elohim רוח אלהים (the Spirit of the Elohim) was hovering upon the face of the waters.” Is this not beautiful?
The next paragraph says: “and Elohim said, “let there be light” and the light was.” Well, this is precisely what we have to understand. We have to make light, or better said, our own particular Spirit, Ruach רוח, has to make light within us, because he is hovering upon the face of Hamayim המים, the waters.
What waters? In Alchemy, the waters are the vehicle, the habitat of fire, of light. Do you understand that, our physicality is about 70% water? In many countries, they make electricity, light, with the strength of the waters. Any body of water can release electricity. What is it that we have related with this work? We say that the positive polarity of electricity is related with the cerebral-spinal fluid; and the negative polarity of the creative waters of Genesis is related with the genital fluid.
Now, observe how the positive and negative polarities are related with the waters of Genesis, in our own particular Malkuth, the physical body. You know very well that common and ordinary people, when they mix their sexual waters, in the sexual act, the outcome is pregnancy. Nine months later, the physical body of another soul is born. But, here, we are talking about Alchemy. What we want, is the creation of the human being within us. For that, the Ruach Elohim, the Spirit of the Elohim, has to perform that upon the face of the waters, which as we explained, relates to the two polarities, the two creative waters that we have.
Man and woman united in the sexual act can create that if they know how. This is in relation with the darkness because darkness exists within us. There is no human form within us, we are void of light within. So, we have to make light. That is the very beginning. Remember that it is written, “and Elohim saw that the light was good, and he called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And there was the evening and the morning of the first day...”
Usually, when people say that the next day has come, we normally associate that with the coming light. But, here, we are explaining that that light emerges from the darkness, according to the explanation that we gave of the flame of the candle: first, dark black, then dark blue, then yellow, then white light. Right? That is why we are in darkness right now, but our Spirit, our Ruach can make light within us.
Now, if you observe how you write the word “light” in Hebrew, you discover that is it written A-U-R, Aleph-Vav-Resh, Aur אור. This word Aur אור (“light”) reminds us of the word Aur-Ora, Aurora, the Aurora Borealis. The Aurora Borealis is a beautiful halo of light, found around the north pole; in the southern hemisphere, this same phenomenon is known as Aurora Australis; that light emerges from the Earth. If you see the planet Earth from space, you see how that Aurora Borealis or Australis emerge from the Earth; indeed, the interior fires of the Earth carry the light to the poles, giving us the spectacular light of the Auroras. That is precisely what we have to know.
The Aurora Australis relates to the South, and esoterically to what we call the genital fluids. Everybody has that energy in her or his genital fluid. We have to raise that fluid, or better said, that energy, towards the head, which in this case is the North pole, the head, in order to accomplish what we are speaking about here: “and Elohim said, let there be light, and there was light.” In other words, we need to raise the light, the energy, from the genitalia up the spine, to the head, in our physicality.
This is what is described in the book of Genesis. Many people say, according to their literal interpretation, “The Sun and the Moon were created on the fourth day… so from where does that light emerge on the first day?” Well, it emerges from the earth; it is called the Aura of the Holy Spirit commonly know as the Aurora Borealis. It is simple.
If you want to repeat the creation of that light in yourself, you have to learn how to release that light in your physicality, alchemically speaking. How? By performing the Arcanum 24, and by doing it in Saturn, because Saturn works in our matter, when we know Alchemy, and that is the mystery of the first day.
That is why people who are holy, who are not like all the beasts, fornicating, they are represented with a halo above their head. This halo represents the fact that they are making light within their darkness; from their darkness, they take the light, and enlighten themselves. They have, we will say, their own, particular Aurora Borealis, because they know how to sublimate their Aurora Australis through their spinal medulla, which is the loom of the Divine Mother, Maria, Malkuth, Miriam.
“And when the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind (Boreas the god of the wind, רוח ruach in Hebrew), and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with (Boreas) the Holy Spirit and (in Daath) began to speak in other tongues as (Boreas) the Spirit (רוח ruach in Hebrew) gave them utterance.” – Acts 2: 1-4.
“The wind (of Boreas, רוח ruach in Hebrew) blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of (Boreas) the Spirit (רוח ruach in Hebrew).” – John 3: 8.
Isn’t this beautiful?
This is precisely the mystery of Christmas. This is associated with the goat, that is why in the Gospel it states that, at the end, there will be a separation of the goats with the sheep. The goats represent those people that ejaculate the fire; they do not care about the light, the Aurora Australis, which they carry in their genitalia, or better said, in the fluids of their genitalia. They enjoy expelling that precious fluid out of their bodies; they behave like any animal. Those are the goats.
But, the people that know how to sublimate that Aurora Australis, towards their brain, are the sheep, they develop a halo around their head, and Aurora Borealis, because their head is enlightened with the light of Mary and the Holy Spirit. This is how they receive the Holy Spirit, because they control the fire from the heads, which is ruled by Aries. That is why it is written that God is a devouring fire. If God is a devouring fire, it is because God is fire, represented in the animal kingdom by the Ox, the sheep and the goat, by animals.
So, make light in the darkness through Alchemy.
If you wonder why are we mixing Greek, Latin mythology with the Hebrew scriptures, let us explain why, by talking about the cross of sexual Alchemy. It is written:
“And Pilate (who represents the mind) wrote a title, and put it on top of the cross. And the writing was, INRI.
This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written:
In Hebrew (ישוע נצרת, מלך יהודים),
And Greek (Ιησούς από τη Ναζαρέτ, Βασιλιάς των Εβραίων),
And Latin (Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum).”
– John 19: 19, 20
So, on top of the vertical pole of the cross is written INRI (ינרי).
We already know that יהוה relates to the four worlds of Kabbalah, namely:
Atziluth, to the letter Iod י of the holy name יהוה. Iod י is represented by Kether, in other words, Kether, the crown, contains in himself the 10 archetypical Sephiroth and Ath את, all the archetypes represented by the 22 letters of Kabbalah. The letters Iod י, Hei ה, Vav ו of the holy name יהוה of Elohim are represented by Kether י, Chokmah ה, and Binah ו, the first triangle of the Tree of Life. The second Hei ה of the kabbalistic holy name יהוה is represented by the Ain Soph.
Briah, to the letters Iod י and Hei ה in the world of creation; and Yah יה, namely, Abba El Hayam, אבא אל-הים and Ama Elah Yam אמא אלה-ים.
Yetzirah, to the letters Iod י, Hei ה and Vav ו of the holy name יהוה of Elohim, in the world of formation, and which represents IAO יהו.
Assiah, the world of matter and action, is represented by the tenth letter Iod י of the holy Ath את, the Shekinah in Malkuth, Malkah, the Queen. Here we find the four letters Iod י, Hei ה, Vav ו, and Hei ה of the holy name יהוה of Elohim, according to the hermetic axiom “as above so below.”
INRI (ינרי)
The Iod י and Nun נ of “IN” vibrates above in Atziluth, in Kether, the pineal gland. The Reish ר and the Iod י of “RI,” the passional fire, Howah הוה, of Malkuth, our Assiah or physicality vibrates below in our genitalia. When the fire rises from our genitalia through our spinal medulla and touches our pineal gland, the light as a halo shine above our heads.
Temptation is sexual fire, thus, the triumph over temptation is light, in other words, the Vav (our spinal medulla), the womb and loom of the Divine Mother (Elah Yam אלה-ים) is “formless and void; and darkness is upon the face of (the sexual fluids of Yesod) the abyss.”
“For Iod-Howah Eloeh-Ha - יהוה אלהיך in Malkuth) is a consuming fire, even a jealous God (El אל).” – Deuteronomy 4: 24
Thus, if we overcome passion, a word which in Hebrew is spelled Hei-Vav-Hei (Howah הוה) in the fiery sexual act, we rise the Iod of Malkuth, the fire, towards the brain and develop our own particular individual Aurora Borealis, since the Spirit of Elohim hovers upon the face of the sexual waters or the cerebral-spinal and genital fluids, in order to make light in the darkness. As it is written:
“And the earth was formless and void; and darkness was upon the face of the abyss. And the Spirit of Elah-Yam רוח אלה-ים) hovered upon the face of the waters.” - Genesis 1: 2.
Regarding the Theomertmalogos emerging from the Solar Absolute, Master Samael Aun Weor said:
“If the Logos sprang from the unknowable divine, the Diabolus gave him liberty to do it..." - Samael Aun Weor
The Greek Diabolus, in its depths, is the Latin Lucifer, the reflection of the Logos within us, the one who gives that sexual instinctual impulse. Thus, by dominating the sexual impulse, we achieve the stabbing of the lance in the back of Diabolus, then we rise from degree to degree through the very body of the lord Diabolus.
But for that we must polish the sacrament of Romae (Latin anagram for Amore, Love) we have to whiten the brass. The brass cannot become white if one does not refine the sacrament of the church of Romae, with the requirement of working on the inhuman psychic aggregates that we carry within; we must destroy them with the lance of Longinus.
The tridents mark exactly the degrees of perfection reached by the objective reasoning. If a human has only five tridents, he will be made in the image and likeness of the Eternal; if five tridents appear on his horns on his forehead, he is obviously a human made in the image and likeness of the Creator, but not a living-soul human. A living- soul human, I repeat, wears six tridents on his horns. We know very well what a trident is: the three-pointed fork. Well, Lucifer has horns, they are carried by the Inner Lucifer that each one of us has within; Lucifer is a reflection of the Logos. In principle that Lucifer is the famous Greek Diabolus, black as coal. When one destroys the ego, then that Diabolus (an archangel of light) integrates with us. He makes us archangels, he will also keep his silver horns, the silver horns of the hierophants. The number of tridents indicates the degree of the hierophant’s progress.” - Samael Aun Weor
(In order to work with the Greek Diabolus which is the Latin Lucifer, we must develop our own particular Moses, which represents the body of willpower or causal body. Not everybody has Moses, as a Solar causal body.)
“Normally, in the world of natural causes (the causal world), one discovers millions of children. Yes, these children are, let us say, the human souls of millions of people, because each person has their own human, psychic part in the world of natural causes. But those “little souls”—forgive me for the badge, which I do intentionally, with a definite purpose—have not yet developed themselves, since they do not have, properly speaking, the body of natural causes, the causal body; they have not acquired yet the stature of a causal human. If I said that these children or "little souls" are "causal ghosts", I would give a pale idea, a very distant idea, indeed, of what they really are, because we could not, in any way, call "ghosts" the causal souls, since they are very real creatures; but neither have such children reached the state of “causal humans.”
The causal human is the causal human; the causal human is the one who possesses a causal body, who has manufactured it; a causal human lives there as a real human, not as a simple elemental, but as a human; he has a completely defined personality, the causal personality...” – Samael Aun Weor
So either we create goats or we create Elohim, because, Bara-Taish Bara Elohim ברא-תיש ברא אלהים.
Let us be more specific, so that we can better understand what is being stated. Jesus said:
“You are of your father the Diabolus (διαβόλους), and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a manslayer (ἀνθρωποκτόνος - anthrōpoktonos) from the beginning (“created goat” Bara-Taish ברא-תיש), and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him (the one that reaches the orgasm). When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he (the fornicator) is a liar, and (their ego or Diabolus) the father of it.” – John 8: 44
Remember, the Greek Diabolus is the same Latin Lucifer, the reflection of the Logos within us, the one who gives the sexual instinctual impulse. Thus, by dominating the sexual impulse we develop Moses within. As it is written:
“And there went a male fire (איש) of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi. And the female fire (אשה) conceived, and bare a son (in the spinal medulla): and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.” – Exodus 2: 1, 2
Malkuth, Mtzarimah מצרימה, Egypt, is Assiah, our physicality, the habitat of the tenth letter, the Iod י of יהוה. The letters Hei-Vav-Hei הוה form a word which is pronounced Howah הוה.
Howah הוה is the passional fire of our genitalia hidden in the Iod י, which is either the spermatozoid or the ovum in Malkuth, our physicality.
Malkuth (our physicality) has a superior vital principle called the Vital Body; our physicality, in the last synthesis, is tetradimensional. The spermatozoid or the ovum swim in Akash tattva in the cerebral spinal and genital fluids, which are the final synthesis of the entire metabolism perform by the fifth aspect of our Divine Mother Kundalini. Master Samael Aun Weor said:
“When I wanted to explore, investigate, inquire about the origin of such sexual powers and forces, I found myself face to face with the elemental female magi, with my Divine Mother Kundalini in her fifth aspect.
Certainly, I had seen her. She was the size of a gnome or pygmy, very small, and very beautiful...
She was dressed with a white tunic and a long black cape that she was dragging on the floor. Her head was covered with a very special magical cornet.
Beside one of the two symbolic columns of occult masonry, the Beloved One had commanded me to a new descent into the “Ninth Sphere” (sex)…. The fifth aspect of Devi Kundalini grants us sexual potency, the natural instinctive force, etc.” – Samael Aun Weor
The vital body is a bluish thermo-electric body that vibrates in Yesod, the ninth Sephirah of the Tree of Life, and is ruled by the moon. The Tattvas are related to the vital body in the following manner:
Names of the Tattvas
Akash is the principle of ether. In the vital body, from the root of our nose to the top of our head; it vibrates with mantra Ha.
Vayu is the etheric principle of the air. In the vital body, from the root of our nose to the heart; it vibrates with mantra Ya.
Tejas is the etheric principle of fire. In the vital body, from our heart to the navel, it vibrates with mantra Ra.
Apas is the etheric principle of water. In the vital body, from our navel to the knees, it vibrates with mantra Va.
