During the influence of Capricorn from the 22nd of December to the 19th of January, we can harness the power of the earth to help us in our spiritual life.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the final of the seven planets, thus Saturn is the planet of death, endings, conclusions: it is the door to resurrection and new birth.

 Capricorn brings the lead of Saturn, which provides strength, solidity, and firmness to walk the path.

The Practical Exercises for Capricorn

To take advantage of these magnetic currents and the influence of Capricorn, there is a practical exercise we can do each day. Exercises like this prepare our body and mind for greater works of priesthood. 

Imagine there is a coffin on the ground in front of you, lengthwise. Walk forward, and with each step raise your knee high and out to the side to step over the coffin from side to side as you walk down its length. With this movement, imagine your knees are strengthened with the "lead" of Saturn. You can do this movement however many times you wish. Remember to do this with concentration, visualization, prayer, and relaxation.

The Incense of Capricorn is Pine

Pine is the incense of Capricorn, the tree of Aquarius, and the Christmas tree. Therefore, during this time of year, the pine tree has special significance.

You can work with the elemental intelligences of the pine in many ways, a few of which are explained in Igneous Rose and Esoteric Medicine and Practical Magic. An easy way to work with the pine is by meditation: sit in meditation with your back upon a pine tree, and pray to your Innermost to command the pine to strengthen and clarify your mind.
