If the person is very skilled with meditation, they may be able to comprehend it very deeply, thereby understanding its mechanisms and possibly preventing the defect from causing further suffering.

However, comprehension alone is not enough. Some defects are so deep and dense that a single person will not have access to enough energy to destroy it. A couple harnesses far more energy than a single person can. This is the difference: energy.
