I was in a discussion group last night with my father, a minister of over fifty years with seminary level training, and a philosphy professor who has studied theology and is a practicing Christian. They were discusssing the trinity and theologies surrounding it. I never mentioned Gnosis. However; they did. They began discussing Gnostics in a very negative light. Acting as if it were heresy to be Gnostic. My Dad cited the writigs of Augustine and what Augustine said about Gnostics. They discussed a type of Gnosis that I had never heard about on this website, through any of Samael Aun Weor's writings, or any other sold in Glorian's book store. Was Augustine purposely writing propaganda again Gnostics. I know that the Emporer Constantine persecuted Gnostics back when he was establishing the Roman Catholic Church as the official church of Rome. Could all of these things they were discussing be from Constantine's smear campaign? I've heard other seminary trained ministers say thing about Gnosis I've never heard before. Is there some sort of propaganda against Gnosis going on in today's Christian seminaries? Is there another type of Gnosis that I've never heard of before? Is that what they were discussion. I never argued because it is a very selfish and egotistical act. I also knew that I would never change their minds. I see a real challenge for everyone who wants to spread the message in the future. That challenge is dealing with people indoctrinated into the seminaries. It seems that they've heard some fairly wild propaganda about Gnosis. I'm curious as to how to deal with such people. I'm sure the instrutors here have dealt with them in the past. Any thoughts?

There is a lot of degenerated historicism within all religions, whereby scholars and dogmatics filter history through the lens of the ego. Therefore, it is not advised to study the opinions of such authors who are asleep.

There is a lot of propaganda spread out on the internet and within many "spiritual" schools, especially against Samael Aun Weor. However, do not identify, since such words do not invalidate the teachings, but only confirms them.

A lot of people talk about Gnosis but have no understanding about the mysteries since they study Gnosticism from the lens of a historical parrot, reciting knowledge without comprehension.

Knowledge is of the mind. Comprehension is of the heart. Are these people becoming more compassionate with their knowledge, or more hardened, cold, cruel, and hypocritical, using religion as a pretext to condemn, slander, or belittle others?

This is why the German initiate Friedrich Nietzsche condemned these people, the "good and the just" within Thus Spoke Zarathustra, intellectual scoundrels who populate the marketplace of spiritual schools in order to barter for souls.

Therefore, it is best to retire to the cold mountain air where only the spirit reigns, and to abandon the marketplace of carcasses covered in the flies of psychological degeneration.

Regarding how to associate with such persons:
Discussions and polemics have ruined many spiritual schools. When two individuals argue, what they have is pride and arrogance in their mind; both want to demonstrate their boasted superiority to one another, both have Satan enthroned in their mind. We must always respectfully express our concept and allow our listener the freedom to accept or reject our concept. Everybody is free to think as they please and we cannot exercise power over our neighbor’s mind, because that would be black magic. Intellectual discussion is luciferic and demonic.

We need to have the mind of a child in order to enter into the Major Mysteries. We need to be like children in our minds and hearts. We need to be perfect as our Father who is in heaven is perfect. The great mysteries are not achievable through vain intellectualisms; the Major Mysteries are achievable with the heart of a child. We have known great Masters of the White Lodge who are totally illiterate. -Samael Aun Weor, The Major Mysteries: Initiatic Preparation

For thirty years I sought God. But when I looked carefully I found that in reality God was the seeker and I the sought. -Bayazid al-Bastami
