Whenever we propose to carry out a special action, whether it be annihilating an ego, controlling sexual energy, doing a special work, or executing a definite program, we must observe and calculate the force of resistance, because by nature the world and its mechanicity tends to provoke resistance and such resistance is doubled.
The more gigantic the enterprise, the greater the resistance will be. If we learn to calculate the resistance, we will also be able to develop the enterprise with success. This is where the capacity of the genius, of the enlightened one, is.
During my daily exercises i feel the resistance of the ego. I feel it before each practice and during day, when i m trying to observe myself. The resistance is the strongest (for some reason) when i want to do the concentration exercises. The mind goes nuts in those instances.
My question is, what does it mean to "calculate the resistance" in practical terms?

Observe, understand, analyze, critique, perceive, and contemplate what inside you resists the force of your introspection. By calculating resistance, we mean that we must perceive the modus operandi of our psychological defects, the structural and transactional forms of mental formations in our mind stream, understanding how they are formed and how they manifest, specifically in the moment we initiate observation of ourselves or any other esoteric exercise.
Calculating resistance means to understand the structures of the ego, or how the mind keeps you asleep, hypnotized, or identified. This is the process of non-identification, of divine calculations through the autonomous reflection of the Being, whereby we see how our mind exerts its hypnotic force to make us identify with it.
