Today i was asked by a friend, who is very new to gnosis, "why do some gnostics beleive that jesus was a mushroom?", this was to me a very odd question because no where in gnosis had I ever heard of jesus being a psychadelic mushroom. when i inquired further into his question my friend told me to look at jan irving who runs "Gnostic Media". Jan irvin talks about jesus being a mushroom, because of ancient texts and pictures showing jesus symbolized as a psycoactive mushroom.

Obviously jesus was not a literal mushroom, that is ridiculous. looking into this a little further, i found that this is actually a very popular beleif now, that jesus was a mushroom and the people who wrote the new testament were addicts of this mushroom and that was their secret god. putting Gnosis as in association with this beleif seems to me to be very serious. So please explain what this whole jesus mushroom thing is and who is this popular Jan Irving in association with gnosis?

I have personally not heard of this before, but such weird, pseudo-literate/scholarly and ungrounded beliefs do not surprise me, since we live in the times of the end.

By investigating religions profoundly, we find that all legitimate spiritual guides reject the use of intoxicants for the advent of spiritual experience. Dante in his Divine Comedy illustrated the fate of those in hell who physically took drugs. Therefore, Gnosis, as the heart of all spiritual traditions, rejects the use of psychedelic substances, since they are literally "drugs for the soul" and can only strengthen the cage of the mind in which the consciousness suffers.

Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.

Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.

"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"
