Let us be clear that perception is clairvoyance. Clairvoyance is a fancy term for perception that certain French initiates created in order to confuse humanity.
There are really two forms of clairvoyance (perception): conditioned (egotistical perception/awareness) or unconditioned (liberated, free consciousness).
Anger is conditioned perception of a subjective type. The fact that we can be aware we are angry, know it is wrong to act on such anger, but do so anyways, is an example of the ego can be awakened to a degree and how we, as a free consciousness or Essence, are weak.
The fact that we get angry and know it, doing what our anger desires, is an example of the cyclopean defect of wrath at work. Anger perceives and wants to harm the object or person of such anger, but is blind to anything else outside its desire. This is why the cyclops is stupid when compared to the liberated, unconditioned, and non-mechanical consciousness of a liberated person, since the free consciousness perceives without filters.
The ego knows what it is doing, since it is perception, but conditioned. Therefore, intense anger is awakened subjectively, to a degree. There is a level of awareness present, but it is filtered through desire. That is the cyclops. When we begin to observe ourselves as free consciousness and separate from these negative elements, we begin to understand that much of our perception is trapped in desire, conditioning, whereby our mind pushes us towards mechanical impulses. However, despite recognizing this fact to a degree, we tend to go along with our desires because they are very strong and our capacity to separate from the mind is very weak. This is why we need to be clever as a free consciousness towards our mind, which is precisely the Essence that Odysseus represents.
Comprehension and observation of a defect occurs in levels. You may know anger is wrong to a degree, but you act on it anyways. For comprehension to be total, you must renounce such anger and not do what it wants, comprehending its facets in meditation. But in order to reach this point, you must not act on the conditioned, awakened desire of anger that only wants to harm. If you identify (feel yourself to be the identity of that given aggregate in an instance of wrath), then you fortify and feed that perception. But if you learn not to give the ego what it wants, it weakens, leading you towards the path of mystical death. Therefore, that anger is awakened to an extent, since it is powered by the energy of the consciousness that is unfortunately trapped within the shell (ego, defect, desire). Therefore, egos have awareness and identity, but only sees according to the limits of their subjective conditioning.
Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.
Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.
"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"
