Fons Alpha et Omega

Hello

After memorzing Fons Alpha et Omega prayer, can I have a benefit of it if I chanted it at any moment or it only works at the real danger like knives or wars?

Also it will take a long time to chant it entirely if the situation was fast to protect myself.

These mantras are effective in times of danger, but also for remembrance (dhikr) of الله Allah (may He be praised and exalted). Such mantras are defensive in nature, but can also help you penetrate, within contemplation (mushahadah), the nature of a dream or vision.
