My body is having an adverse reaction to Vegetarianism. My bones and joints are weakening, aching and paining and I feel like I'm losing strength. I am so confused...

A Gnostic spiritual leader I am following gives evidence that the eternal Yeshua-Christ and all his disciples were vegetarians and that part of living the consecrate life is to be vegetarian. He writes: There still exists scriptures that contain many of the original teachings that were removed from the Bible (see Bible Corruption). And in such scriptures as the Gospel of the Nazirenes (see Gospel), it is taught that those who defile their body-vessel with the flesh of slain beasts, cannot learn of know the Mysteries of God. Thus, Yeshua is asked: "And again that one asked, If anyone comes to us who eats flesh and drinks strong drink, how shall we receive them? And Yeshua said to him, Let such a person abide in the outer court until they cleanse themselves from these grosser evils; for till they perceive, and repent of these, they are not fit to receive the higher mysteries." Why can't they be permitted into the inner core of the Congregational Body of Messiah/Christ? Because their minds are incapable of contemplating the Mysteries of God by virtue of the polluted body-vessel -- and therefore, the necessary spiritual transformation cannot be brought about. And this is further demonstrated in the words of Jesus as preserved in the Gospel of the Nazirenes: And Yeshua said to them, "They, whose hands are stained with blood, or whose mouths are defiled with flesh, or they who partake of benefits which are gotten by wronging one of God's creatures, cannot be righteous; nor can they touch holy things, or teach the mysteries of the kingdom." Yet Master SAW holds a different view. Also, when searching this forum for previous posts on this topic I came across the following statement by Gnostic Instructor Mathew Thomas (http://gnosticteachings.org/forum/profile/matthewthomas.html): "Be aware that all of our teachers — Jesus, the Dalai Lama, Padmasambhava, Moses, etc — eat meat. This is not for pleasure or cruelty. Rather, it is a necessity for the body and the soul. This has already been thoroughly explained elsewhere".

These seem to very conflicting and opposing views. One says Yeshua and the disciples wee vegetarian, another says they ate meat. Both views are backed up with scripture and Gnostic spiritual insight...

This is very worrying to me because I believe that all Gnostic teachers are sincere and truthful. Yet here is a clear contradiction. If Gnostic instructors were deriving their knowledge from One source, why this contradiction? I just want to do that which is fruitful for my soul and maximise this lifetime to the best of my ability. I have no concern for taste or culture, I simply wish to sincerely walk the path that is most profitable for my spiritual progress and to begin my prodigal journey home towards my Father's mansion.

Any help or insight will be greatly appreciated.

With gratitude...

You have the look at the facts. Are you maintaining your health to a greater degree through your new diet, or are you deteriorating? In Gnosis, we accept what is useful and reject what is useless. Therefore, if abstention from meat is causing you to be ill, then you need to revise your method.

Also, since Christ taught the path of balance, why would he uphold a doctrine that promotes sickness for many who cannot adapt their physicality to the rigors of a vegetarian diet? While some people may thrive on vegetables, not everyone has the body type that can accommodate such a practice. Obviously you are feeling ill from not treating your body correctly. So?

Diet should help religion. It should not be your religion.

Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.

Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.

Thanks Benedictus!

There are three statements that shed light:

1. You have the look at the facts.
2. Christ taught the path of balance
3. Diet should help religion. It should not be your religion.

I appreciate your assistance.
