Hello again, I have a question about binaural beats, harmonics, and frequencies. Do these sounds have any real use in meditation? I have found from studies that these sounds produce an artificial noise in the pychce in order to "tune out", this is described as a state of relaxation but to me it seems as if it is dumbing down the mind instead of awakening consciousness, like so many people claim is being done. Is it possible to use noise to awaken consciousness? Do alpha waves help one to attain a higher state? Are these noises used the same, just as mantras are used? Also ,is it the vibration or the sound/tone that resonates with our consciousness. Please explain how these vibrations can be best used and how they relate to the centers of our being and our psyche. In our Gnostic studies, we do not rely on anything but the Being and the consciousness in order to awaken. Our reasoning is contained in the following quote by Samael Aun Weor:
Within us there are various types of energy which we must understand:

First, mechanical energy;

Second, vital energy;

Third, energy of the psyche;

Fourth, mental energy;

Fifth, energy of the will;

Sixth, energy of the Consciousness;

Seventh, energy of the pure Spirit.

No matter how much we might increase our strictly mechanical energy, we will never awaken Consciousness.

No matter how much we might increase the vital forces within our own organism, we will never awaken Consciousness.

Many psychological processes take place within us without any intervention from the Consciousness.

However great the disciplines of the mind might be, mental energy can never achieve the awakening of the diverse functions of the Consciousness.

Even if our willpower is multiplied infinitely, it can never bring about the awakening of the Consciousness.

All these types of energy are graded into different levels and dimensions, which have nothing to do with the Consciousness.

Consciousness can only be awakened through conscious work and upright efforts. -The Great Rebellion
Those who use mechanical, artificial means to stimulate perception, such as sounds, drugs, frequencies, etc., are unreliable and will not assist in the vivification and complete development of the soul. Consciousness is an energy, but it not mechanical, the latter being constituted by the so-called popular frequencies used to "astral project" or "meditate."

Mechanical methods can awaken consciousness within mechanicity, but they can never awaken or liberate the consciousness from conditions. We must understand that conditions are constituted by mechanicity, vitality, emotions, and mind, especially. The question remains: why try to use certain conditioning elements (sounds, frequencies, drugs, etc.) of a mechanical nature to free consciousness when consciousness is an energy far beyond these means? The answer is that such efforts are a waste of time, since trying to liberate consciousness with conditioning elements is like trying to build a house with a wrecking ball.

Despite the popularity of such hypnotizing novelties, the truth is that if such methods are popular, they will produce nothing positive, for "wide is the gate and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many go in thereat."

Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.

Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.

"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"
