Asa historian this is what i have been able to come up with with so little light being shed on the union of the Gnostic Catholic Church
Do let me know if this is not true...
In the early beginnings of Christianity as a faith there existed the Gnostic Catholic Church. A church whose prime concern was the practical development of the virtuous aspects of the Human Being and the divine spark that each one carries within our innermost depths. That phenomena was what was, and to this day still is called the path of Christification.
The universal spirit of life was known to them as Chrestos which means fire. Whosoever incarnated the universal spirit of life became a Christ.
The esoteric value of the word Chrestos is worshipper of fire. The immortal fire that purges, creates and renews nature incessantly. The latin word INRI placed on the Calvary cross is an abbreviation of Igneous Natura Renovator Integram, which means the fire renews nature incessantly.
The Roman clergy for a time became part of that church until for political reasons it separated and became its own institution. That institute was called, ‘The Roman Catholic Church’ which came to claim to be the only authority of god’s word and his sole church on earth. The claim by itself would have been fine however to the pain of many it was upheld according to Roman custom, by the sword and the axe. Anyone not adhering to the rule of their church were then considered, heretics, etc. The numbers are uncountable as to how many people were executed, tossed into the arenas with hungry lions, or burnt at the stake as heathens back then and over the ages. There is no toll as to how many books were destroyed or omitted from the original bible. The word bible coming from ‘Biblios’ Greek for collection of books.
This is not an opportunity to single out any group. It is only a matter of stating the truth of historical facts if the truth be known.
The Gnostics are not against any religion. They view all religions that unite the human with the divine as precious pearls strung on the golden thread of divinity.
Contrarily and decreed by the Roman Catholic church every gospel not belonging to the present four gospels of the bible (Mathew Luke John and Paul) was then burnt to cinders or destroyed by other means.
